What do have planned for the holiday season? Visiting family. Staying home. I am staying home with my wife. We plan to go to some of the festivities in the neighborhood. Nothing fancy.

In the old days a person could create a forum and drop a few links and almost instantly get users sign up. There were several niches that if you started a community in the niche the site would explode if you put a little work into it. I seen it happen time after time. That was in the peak of forum popularity. It's much harder to get a community off the ground today. It can be done. You have to work hard at it. Gone are the days of old and that's a good thing. Forums that have staff that actively contribute topics are more attractive to people that find the site. If you care about your forum community it will show. User will sign up and soon the community you nur…

As you can see from the site stats we have just over 1000 posts. We have over 29,000 members. How did that happen? I originally put this site online after I sold Admin Addict in 2010. It got a good start. Unfortunatley wheile getting my yearly checkup the doc found a tumor in my bladder. It turned out to be benigh so I dodged a bullet. Because this happened I decided websites had to go on the backburner while I tened better to my health. Drinking a partying had to go. I lost the original domain right before I cut my online presence down. It sat as a subdomain on Admin Addict and then Admin Zone. After this thread https://anotheradminforum.com/threads/entering-…

A few years ago there was a proposal to Icann to create .forum top level domains. It took forever and now they are available. I have a 3 of them: https://computerhelp.forum https://freepchelp.forum https://offtopic.forum I was sceptical at first and bought those 3 because I lost the domains the sites were on when I was ill. They were cheap, $4.95 each so I thought why not. Those domains have been online now for almost 6 months. I will say this Google loves the .forum domains. Those sites get almost double the traffic that old sites on .com domains got. If those visitors would only convert to active users. I can dream. What you think about the .forum doami…

I am debating if I should add a shoutbox or not. I added one to my tech forum and it crashed and burned pretty fast because it annoyed the users. OTOH, when I had Just BS open it complemented the forum topics nicely and users enjoyed it. What to do? I have licenses to both licenses so if I do decide to add it here I'm unsure of which to add. I guess at this point I'll say coming soon.

I don't know if any of you have seen or heard about the once in a lifetime storm that resulted in epic flooding in West Virginia. Death Toll Climbs to 23 in Historic West Virginia Flooding One of our members, @Sheldon, lives in this area and has been giving reports of the devastation on BASH.zone that he has witnessed first hand. While he reports that flood waters are receding him and his family are still in danger. Lets all keep Sheldon and his family in our thoughts until this disaster is behind him.

Hi all, I'd like to share my experience and what I'm feeling now. I live in Switzerland and I'm 20. I'm almost finished with the school and as I ever said, I want to find a job. The school I've done it's an apprenticeship (I know in many countries there's not this kind of school), anyway it's like a stage but it's 4 years long. You have to go to school and work (usually 2 weeks at school and 2 at work). Finding a job it's not an easy task, it seems like if you haven't a bachelor or master you are almost nobody. This (for me) doesn't make sense... It's hard to show what you can REALLY do, I know many people who are able to sell themselves also if they're not wh…

Hi there, Hope someone can help as I'm onto my 3rd day of trying to figure this out. I have a server with Server 2008 R2, I am trying to set it up so that I can access a shared area from another site. The server is behind a router with a static ip. 1. I have installed Network Policy and Access Services role (NPAS) and configured RRAS to allow vpn connections 2. I have changed changed the servers network connection ip to use the static ip, subnet mask and gateway etc (i got these from my router homepage). 3. I tried to then install active directory as suggested inhttp://www.buchatech.com/2010/06/ho... however when following this through the dns server fails to recogn…

Let everyone know what kind of server hardware you installed Windows Server 2008 to. It will help us put a list together of hardware that is compatible. If you have any problems with certain hardware add a note about the conflicts.
