Hi everyone I am thinking to get a server and install Win2008 R2 Enterprise edition. My plan is to create 4 virtual machines. The first one is going to be the active directory the second VM is going to be an SQL server the third VM is going to be sharepoint and the fourth VM maybe a print server, not sure yet. I am no expert with Windows and I just want to ask whether this setup can cause any sort of problems because everything are hosted by virtual machines. Also when you install Win2008 R2 does that include Actice directory or AD is a separate installation? Many thanks goude

Hello everyone Could anyone please help me understand the difference between Hyper-V and SCVMM? I am the systems engineer of a small college and being mainly a Linux environment, windows user profiles are becoming a problem. For that reason we are planning to get a Windows Server that will run 4 virtual machines. VM1= for Windows Server 2008 VM2= for an SQL Server VM3= for Sharepoint VM4= maybe a print server In order to manage these VMs I was looking at Microsoft's Hyper-V and SCVMM but I find it difficult to understand the difference. Could you please advise on what would be best for my case? Many thanks

Hello, I am trying to create roaming profiles for my computers. All of the client computers are running windows 7 64bit. I have connected them to the domain and they will all log into the users that are created on the server, but when i change computers the new computer makes a temporary profile instead of using the profile that was already created. What I have done on the server: I set up a shared file on the C drive to hold all of the profiles information. It is given permissions to add and remove by authenticated users. I have then created users in the Active Directory Users and computers. I have placed the file path to the profiles folders in the profile under …

I am attempting to create a sysprepped template of a virtual machine running 2008R2 Data Center in Vsphere 4.1 My unattend file processes correctly, but is producing an unexpected result: When the machine first boots after sysprep I get an error message that Windows has created a temporary paging file, and when I check my Virtual Memory settings I see that I have no paging file. Prior to running sysprep I had the paging file on a dedicated swap volume E: for example... and after running sysprep I see that the volume has disappeared and is no longer connected. Is there any way around this? Is there a way I can set my unattend to specify/prevent changes to the Virtual Me…
