Hi I intend to use windows server 2008 as a domain controller. On domain controllers I usually use a static IP address. That was not a problem until now(before I used windows server 2003). When I set the static IP on new installation of windows server 2008 I lose network connectivity. Using diagnose / repair fixes the problem by enabling dhcp on the network adapter which is not what I want. Does anybody has any idea what is the problem and how to solve it? Any advice will be appreciated.

I am running windows server 2008 r2. I want to modify the password policy and some user rights policies however when I go to the default domain policy to edit in the security settings I get the error "Windows Can not open template file"? I am not sure what the issue is. I have tried the DCGPOFIX command and it did not work for me. Any help is appreciated.

I still have an interest in the IT world, despite not being involved for several years and focussing more on social media.
