Hi everyone, I'd appreciate your advice on the following. I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 box running on my home network. I recently changed the network topology and thus changed the IP address of the Windows 2008 server network adapter in the adapter properties. I then neatly stored all my hardware in a cupboard out of sight. The problem is that I didn't check the remote access settings of the server before I stored it. Since I have changed the IP address I can't remote access it (I could before). I assume this is because the firewall has not been correctly configured to account for the IP address change. I am able to access the shared folders on the server so it i…

Social media marketing is a mechanism to interact with a set of online social media conversations from a marketing perspective, based on converged media.Social media marketing is measurable via a set of social media metrics. Many way conversations take place between the marketer and the participants in a social network but also amongst the participants themselves. I'm thinking of a Virtual Server for developing/hosting websites. The only significant application on it will be SQL Server Express. I see some very good offers around for entry level at 1Gb RAM; will W2008 R2 perform reasonably well with that amount of RAM or would I be wasting my time?

I've searched for previous posts but they all come up error 404. I watched a tutorial on network load balancing. I have 4 web servers and one database server. I would like the load to be spread between the web servers (which get data from the data server) , basically have NLB be the "traffic cop". The only question I have is...is the virtual IP address that the web servers (or users) would connect to hosted on a main domain controller , or is the cluster IP address just on whatever machine I want to set it up on and then the computers connect to it (after I run the configuration for each web server). I'm thinking I would need a DNS computer A as the host IP, that web s…

Hi, Is it doable to set up a non-domain-based (standalone) Windows Server 2008 as an SSTP VPN (Secure Socket Layer Tunneling Protocol VPN)? I'd like to enable remote users to access a network via SSL-based VPN (currently using PPTP) by making an SSTP VPN connection via a Win2k8 server. Most of the docs seem to include running in an AD domain with an in-house Certificate Authority to enable this feature. Is it possible to do this with a stand-alone Win2k8 server? If so, how?
