I had one user come up to me saying they couldn't save to a series of shared folders on a particular server. Other uses were not experiencing the problem when accessing the same folders. After some troubleshooting I was able to determine that the use has these folders set up as mapped drives, however, each folder shows up as only having 74.6MB of free space when it reality it should have over 2GB. I also mapped various folders from multiple servers to the users profile and found that this issue is only occurring on the D: drive of this particular 2008 R2 file server. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to proceed, any ideas?

I know that some of you have experience moving from vb to IPB. I'm about to do that with a nice sized forum and no vbseo, thankfully. Wondering what you guys have done to optimize your site and if you did anything special given the existing forum content.

Hi, Has anyone encountered any issues whereby the windows 2008 firewall is enabled for no apparent reason by itself? I did a windows update last night and this morning all my windows 2008 R2 servers had their windows 2008 firewall ON. GPO does not have a policy that enables Windows Firewall at all cost.

Hi, I am having an AD environment with 5 DCs. ns1.test ns2.test ns3.test ns4.test ns5.test FSMO role distribution was pending, so virtually ns1.test had all the roles and was the only DC which had writable partition. I format ns1.test and tried again to attached to domain, but its giving an error saying "You cannot attach any new DC till the time RID master is down" I have all the other four DCs up and running, but I am not able to attach ns1 again to domain. Even though its an testing environment but it has some critical test result and requirement. I will highly obliged if someone can help me on this. - Pra…

Hi Team, New to this form and been away from servers for a bit and recently had to implement a 2008 server in a school. Currently all the users are XP SP3. Here is my issue. I am trying to map a few drives to users based on their group memberships. so... for the sake of keeping this short lets talk about just the faculty group. I created a group called faculty and added all faculty menbers to it. I created a share on the server \\server\GroupShare\FacultyShare I gave security rights (full Control) to the faculty group In GPM I created a policy called faculty and linked it. I went into the users and preferences and drive mappings and told it to map a driv…

hey guys, Hope everyone is doing well. I need some help regarding POP3 emails accounts. I have non domain users who have direct access to the internet , so they can use the outlook by configuring the usual settings for pop and smtp which is normal and working perfectly. Now, when i tried to join these users to a domain, they couldnt access the pop server anymore ( POP3 server is hosted by my ISP ) . I was wondering if its a DNS issue or maybe i have to configure the windows server 2008 to relay or reroute the emails. so my question is how to configure windows server 2008 ( if needed) to Send and receive e-mail over the Internet so that domain users can access …

Hi everyone, I've started setting up a Windows 2008 server as a bit of a home project, basically to teach myself how to use it. I'm having trouble with some file permissions. Here's what I have set up: In my active directory, I have "user one", "user two" and "user three" which are all part of the domain users group. I also have "administrator" in the domain admins group. I have created a folder called "HomeFolders" on the C drive of the server and shared it. I can see this folder from my client PC when logged into the domain. The HomeFolders folder has read only access from domain users and full access from domain admins. This works correctly. Inside the…

A link wheel is an SEO technique utilizing multiple Web 2.0 blogging platforms to interlink articles, that is one of the most effective ways to target a specific keyword and get to the first page on Google. You can increase the power of your link wheel by using social bookmarking websites. This is a very effective strategy because youll be getting a lot of backlinks to your site which will help you rank easily in search engines. The only downside of this strategy is, it takes a LOT of time. Why? because you need to make unique articles to each of your web 2.0 websites and you also need to create unique accounts for your social networking websites.
