Hi, I am fairly new to using windows server 2008, but an encountering a peculiar problem. I have a samsung multifunctional, standalone connected to the network. Windows server has detected it and installed it as default printer. I have also installed the samsung universal scan driver and windows server detects it fine. Furthermore, to get the wia service, I installed the desktop experience feature on windows server 2008. Now, if I try to import a picture from scanner in paint, it nicely starts the windows scan program and all works perfectly fine. Hi all, I'm Andrew also known as Mysterchr. I live in Morgantown, West Virginia, also known as east coast US. I am a system engineer for T3Corp, and also do some consulting on the side. I've been an admin/engineer for nearly seven years. My top most relevant credentials are MCP, MCTS, MCSA, MCSE, MCITP, A+, Net+, and Sec+. I'm of course here to help others in their journey but I'm also hoping to learn new things as well. Participating in forums like this one is part of what I do to train. I'm the type that learns best by either doing it or at least talking about. The only other thing I can think of at this point that you should know about me is that I'm a horrible spe…

Hi :turned: This is my first post. Thanks for having me as part of this community and for all the help! I'd like to pose my problem and ask for some advice on how to proceed: I work for a small company, that has 2 teams of construction technicians. I do most of the IT for our company. I'm very good with basic networking, computer reformatting, building computers, and general day to day IT issues that we encounter. Basically, my company would like to set up a server, so that our 2 field teams and some of the bosses can share pictures, spreadsheets, and collaborate on field reports. This seems very basic but I don't know how to implement these objectives. When I w…

We have two locations in our company and two different networks which are connected together. I am on 192.168.1.1 and Windows 2008 server is on 192.168.2.1 - I can see everything on .2.1, I can ping it etc.. I would like to know if it is possible to join a domain on .2.1 - where Windows 2008 server is from my location .1.1. I always get this message: I have around 15 desktop computers that I have to join with domain and domain server is a few kilometers away. Any help would be much appreciated.

Guys, I am worried about how to track an IP address from event viewer which is having more than 100 or 200 incoming connections to my server. But I am afraid as I can track those suspected IP address by using netstat but this is used to track the live connections only. But I want suspected IP address which was affected my server past. Hello I got Windows Server 2008 R2 and using it as a workstation. The other day I created 2 accounts, but they were deleted(were not needed). How ever when right click on a folder or shortcut(any folder/shortcut) and click properties, security I notice their is a account unknown(S-1-5-21-27) ( note its a lot longer than that, to much to type). In C:\Users the two accounts I made still have there folders there. Last time before this I deleted a account it deleted the complete folder. If I check the security tab of the first folder it will give a the random account unknown with a long number. The other folder is the same BUT with a different number. So both ac…
