This may or may not be a serious error. WINS will try to recover from it. You can check the database error events under 'Application Log' category of the Event Viewer for the Exchange Component, ESENT, source to find out more details about database errors. Hi, I am running Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter Edition. I have noticed that now when I go to the start menu and click on control panel it acts like it is opening up. You know when you click on something and it goes to the bottom of the screen and sits on the start bar? That's what mine is doing. I can click it all day and nothing happens even if I hit Maximize. Same thing happens when I go into the Firewall, it will never open up. Even printers and devices won't come up. I haven't installed anything new to my knowledge. I have rebooted, shutdown everything same thing happens. I have even reinstalled Mozilla Firefox. I need help bad, Any Suggestions,

I have a server running Windows Server 2008, a PC running Windows XP Professional and a PC running Windows 7. I have managed to successfully join the XP machine to the Windows Server 2008 domain however with Windows 7 I've ran into a problem I am not sure how to fix. The error is as follows: An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domain controller in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a dns server that can resolve dns names in the target domain. If you could help me out, that would be great. If you are though, keep your post basic. I'm brand new to Windows Server operating systems. Thanks a lot, David.

New windows 2008 server R2 SP1. I migrated the data from the old win.2003 server. Finally I have it running and all the users (using Win XP pro sp3) hooked up to it but one user can only access one of his mapped network drives. The one he can access is his personal one with it's path in the AD users properties. When I replaced the mapping for the other network drives, they at first appeared as folders so I disconnected them and mapped again. They showed up as drives this time but it took a little longer than on all the other machines. When I try to open them, nothing happens. No error messages, nothing. None of the other PCs had this issue. I included the user in question…

Hi. I'm logging performance counters on a 2008 R2 server, and I'm after a bit of advice on interpreting the results from the disk counters, if anyone can help. Sorry if what follows seems convoluted, but I'm confused by a lack of clear rules by which to interpret disk counters reliably. Most of the MS stuff I've found just reiterates, and elaborates on, the 'Explain'/'Description' text, but one non-MS posting I found casts doubt on the reliablility of seemingly key counters like % Disk Time, Current Queue Length and Average Disk Queue Length. For example: % Disk Time =========== I've read that this counter is 'capped' and therefore, does 'not actually measure disk…

Hi, I am new to this forum and a complete noob when it comes to Windows Server. I do however have a lot of other systems experience and is technically orientated, so am hopeful to pick up on this fairly quickly. I am part of a small'ish organisation that want to start making use of a server environment. However, we are a dispersed organisation with a small office and most of our employees either working from home, or at clients. The office does not have any IT infrastructure other than a couple of well spec'ed PC's connected to a wireless router and an internet connection which can be upgraded to a fairly good standard. We could also put in a dedicated internet con…
