Hi, I activate my server 2008 but mp3 and film folders maximum limit set up is "10" automatically :S I wanna set limit is 100, please help me. Thanks.

Hi, The present configuration is Win Server 2000 single server running as PDC I will be replacing it with Server 2008 R2 Standard I have read about running ADPREP from the 2008 CD on the 2000 server etc... I would like to prepare as much as I can before I arrive to my customer's site so my question is: Can I install Windows server 2008 R2 on the new server as a stand alone, install all software (TBU, Drivers, Win updates, etc...) and then take the new server on site and perform the DC changes? My plan is to make the new server as BDC, then promote it and then turn off the old server. Thanks for any highlights, Mike

I need to implementation client authentication using certificates. To achieve that i have installed the IIS7 and CA on windows server 2008. Also created certificate using web enrollment site. But i was unable to map the certificate using IIS 7. Please provide the steps for client certificate mapping on IIS 7.

Currently building a new 2008 domain, I still have a 2003 domain which will remain active, but I will be migrating some users to the new domain. I am also allowing new applications to be installed/built in the new domain. What are some things I should consider before allowing people to install new apps in the domain. I need to know if there are any dependencies on the old domain, group memberships, etc. So there will be an assessment period, any one know if there are templates available for this?

I have set up a list of adminstrators on my server to be able to manage everything. However, for some reason, only one administrator login name is able to see the user name of the owners of remote desktop processes. Other administrators can kill processes, but aren't able to see the username that is attached to each process. Enabling show processes from all users will list all processes, but shows where the user name should be. Anyone have a clue why this is happening?

Hi All, Would anyone be able to help me diagnose my Server 2008 disruptive shutdowns please? This has been happening for the last month and occurs between 1 and 4 times a day! My server is a leased dedicated server, I have remote access (and KVM access when enabled). The provider (fasthosts) has recently swapped the chassis after memory diagnosis and disk tests seemed to pass ok. Initially the server was NOT providing ANY minidump - so I had nothing to work with. However I have just (yesterday) upgraded to SP2 and this morning the server crashed twice and provided a minidump on both occassions. When we upgrade from windows 2003 to windows 2008 server, from the clinet computers ( windows 7, xp etc) zebra barcode printer is not prining the barcode fonts. Barcode printer is connection in the client pcs, and locally its working fine. When we connect to the server by terminal connection and give print from application software / crystal report. The redirected printer is not printing the barcode font. We tried all the ways. Finally disabled the easy print driver from Group policy. Then its printing some barcode which is not readable by the scanners. Is there any solution for this. When the connection was through windows 2003 server it was working fine.

What are the steps of installing window 2008 server?

i cannot search for certain text inside a file in win2008 server. When i search, the search always looks only in filenames, but not in content of files in win2003 server, i had to update the following registry key in order to be able to search for text in the files: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex - Set the DWORD-value of FilterFilesWithUnknownExtensions to 1 (default = 0) i did try different settings, but noone did bring any success any help is much appreciated mmoser

How do i configure so all my client computers install all windows updates using GPO? For an example if i have a normal user who gets info abt win7 sp1 is available in windows updates but when he tries to install it system wants administrator permissions etc etc. I dont use WSUS. Been playing around in computer configurations without any luck. I dont want to make my normal users domain admins to be able to install these updates. Any idea?

Our IT company has folded up, right when we were ready to buy new computers. Tomorrow, we were going to purchase a bunch of new computers. Because I have knowledge with Windows 7, I can easily install software etc. However, I have no training with 2008 r2 or servers. After I setup the computers and plug them into the network. Will they work and be able to see the network? Or does something need to be setup on the Server. Our current XP workstations, require us to login with a username and password, to be allowed access to the server. I suppose the simple answer would be to hire a new IT company. However, things take time, we are already getting the new workstations …

I am running a small network with Server 2008 Web R2 on the server and Windows 7 on the PCs. They are all connected to a Linksys router that is setup with dhcp enabled. When I view the network map on PCs or Server I can see everything that should be on the network. However, when I try to add a login within SQL Server 2008 Express on the server to allow PCs on the network to access the database the only thing that is available is the Server. I want to use Windows Authentication as the connection method to the Sql database. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, I'm taking a class on Computer Networks this semester in which we are using Server 2008 so I thought joining this forum could be useful. I also had a question. Is there a limit to how many VPS can be run on a single machine? Or is it just however many it is capable of?
