Hello everybody ! Since many days I am trieing to run a self-written server-application on my server. But any attempt to get a connection from client to server fails. (The same with WCF). I have heard, that there are many things to set up in the IIS to allow access to by TCP-IP from outer-machine. Busy port should be no matter, course I had tried many different. Can anyone give me a hint or link to solve these written problems ? Thank you very much matthias PS. I am sorry for my bad English.

Hi All, We are using digital certificate at windows XP and Windows server 2003 and it works fine but when we try to install digital certificate on Windows Server 2008 it gives errors. We are using the same installation steps for windows server 2008 also. Please review the installation steps with error message and guide us how to resolve it at Windows Server 2008. Following are the certificate installation steps 1. Install the certificate from the HTML backup. 2. Open following URL for generating PKCS12 file. https://danid.dk/export/sites/dk.danid.oc/da/support/vejledninger/windows/sikkerhedskopiering/opret_avanceret_sikkerhedskopi/ 3. Now uninstall the TDC …

Running websites for a few years now, I've always relied on the benefits of shared hosting, but eventually one of my apps just got to big so I made the leap to my own (rented) Windows Server 2008 from which to run my site. It's a new world, but so far so good. I'm more of a programmer than a sysadmin/techie so I have a lot to learn. Hopefully this site will be useful to me and perhaps my own experiences may be useful to others.

Hello, I have a Dell T310 server that came with Windows 2008 R2 - 64 bit OS loaded. The primary application that is to be run on this machine is not currently supported under 2008 R2 64 Bit. Because of this mistake I must downgrade to a 32 bit Windows Server OS. I would like to roll it back to Windows 2008 Server SP2. I currently do not have the media set from Microsoft, I have ordered it but it has not arrived yet. I was trying to use Dell's Open Manage to relaod the OS. I have been successful with downgrading to Windows 20003 (I have an OS media kit that Dell provided, they did not provide a Win 2008 Server SP2 set). I have tried repeatively to load Windows 2008 SP2 32…

I have written a 32 bit SNMP extension agent dll in native C++ (since you have to write it this way). This works on a Windows XP machine and a Windows 2003 server machine without any problems. I have now installed it on a machine running Windows Server 2008 i.e. 64bit. I have added my SNMP agent to the following registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SNMP\Parameters\ExtensionAgents My entry under this key references another registry location which has a Pathname entry which is set to "d:\test\PP.PixelPromo.Support.SnmpAgent.dll" as a REG_EXPAND_SZ type (as opposed to a REG_SZ type). Every time that I start the SNMP servic…

I have numerous servers which randomly hang at the welcome screen. The only way to connect is to reboot the server. A few times I have been connected while others cannot connect. I was even able to disconnect, then reconnect while the others could not. Any ideas? Thanks.

I've installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on a new computer with Intel quadcore processor, a 30GB SSD as system disk and 2 500GB sata-2 drives in mirror as datadrive. There are two client computers connected, each running WIndows XP with SP3. The same clients ran on the NT-server that was used before without any problem. I have disconnected them from the NT-domain and connected them to the new domain. The problem is that after the user has filled in his name and password it takes minutes of time before the system is ready to use. I do not use a logon-script and no roaming profiles. The only drivemapping used is made local and the printers are installed local as well. Doe…

W3C Logging

Hi there For some reason the field order for the W3C log is:- Date time s-ip cs-method cs-url stem cs-uri-query s-port cs-username c-ip ... Log fields (in prior versions of IIS) have always started with Date Time c-ip .............. Makes them very easy to read and track the client IP - this way the Client IP is buried and real pain! Any idea how this can be changed? Thanks Oh - cannot login with IE9 - clicking the button has no effect!
