I just installed Windows 2008 sever and created an account for myself to test. I found while reading around on the internet that Group Policy is the new way to set up mapped drives for users. I have created a policy to map three drives for the domain users. Now when I go to login from my Win 7 Pro and Ultimate machines, I don't get any mapped drives. I can't seem to figure out where the issue is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As head of IT in a small company I've installed a Windows Server 2008 to function as domain server. We have about 60 client computers on the domain and the functioning of the server is quite important. Since the server is so important, my employer and I decided it should be running in RAID1 in case one of the harddisks breaks down. When I configured the server, there was only 1 hard disk so now I have bought another copy of that hard disk. As you might know, when installing a raid configuration (from Dell) you need to rebuild the disks. That means all the data that was on the disk gets wiped out. Here is my problem: After I've installed RAID1 on my disk(s), will th…

My company is currently running on Windows 2008 R2 Standard. We have quarterly scans for PCI Compliance(credit card industry security standards). We currently need to disable SSL 2.0. I looked up how to do it but nothing I have found has told me how to make sure SSL 3.0 is working. (I'm fresh out of school and still green) We currently use outlook anywhere at one location to get emails from another location. We also have a sharepoint site we need to get up and running in the not too distant future. So as far as my knowledge goes I need some form of SSL running. SSL 3.0 is compliant so that is why I am asking about it. Any ideas on how I can get 3.0 so I don't break everyt…

Hello Everyone, My name is Yekini and I have been studying Active Directory 2008 for some time now and so far, everything has been going great; until I started studying and trying to master inter-site replications in Active Directory Sites & Services. Yes, we have intra-site and inter-site replications. In a nutshell, I completely I understood the whole concepts and configurations that needs to be down in Active Directory Sites & Services in order to implement inter-sites replications. I also understand with the basic fundamental principle of TCP/IP addressing system, private ip addresses scheme are non-routable on the public network (internet) unless a defa…

We do not have an official "Server" but all the computers are connected to a PC which holds the network documents Our issue is that we need to secure certain files and folders so that certain users can or cannot access them What is a secure way of doing this while still being cost conscious? Thanks alot for your help

Hi! Is there any good Tools/programs for windows 2008 server that has more options than "File Server Resource Manager" to block specified file types to be downloaded to shared volumes. Things i want the Tool to do besides blocking files types, is to set som kind of limit on how big the downloaded file can be. It would be nice if it also could find doublets files and deny downloading of doublets files. Thanks in advance /B
