Hi, When I was trying to install the 32 bit software on a Win2008 64-bit server. I am getting the version compatible error. Is there any procedure to install the 32 bit software on a 64-bit machine ? I read that the 32 bit run on 64 bit servers using WOW emulator. In order to install the software, do I need to check if a WOW emulator process needs to be running? Please help, I am bit new to this. Thanks, Deepak.

Hi All, We have a problem of Active Directory replication between 1 Domain Controller and 1 RODC on two distinct networks via Ipsec. The IPsec tunnel closes itself between 2 replications (3 hours) and the necessary time to setup the tunnel crashes the application the time necessary to set-up the tunnel is greater than the timeout replication. Consequently, there is no replication. Our workaround is to launch a ping to create the tunnel. Any idea how we could solve the problem definitely? Thanks in advance your help, Olivier

Hi everybody, I've recently set up Server 2008 R2 as the PDC of an AD. Everything went well so far, but there is one problem I could not solve yet: In the clients' network settings I've entered the IP of the local 2008 R2 server as preferred DNS server. In the alternative DNS server field I've entered the IP of router that connects to the internet. What happens now is that whenever I try to connect to another client or even the server through its domain name, say "s2008.home.tld", the request apparently is handled by the router's DNS server (which forwards to the ISP's DNS server), which obviously returns an "unknown address - no website is configured to this addre…

I am a newby to Windows Server. Our operation is changing from being a Netware shop to a Microsoft shop. It seemed like a big task to start with, but we didn't realize just how big it would be. We are still learning as we go.

I have a customer running Windows 2008 R2. We are using the Windows 2008 backup utility. We have using external usb hard drives to backup the server. The very first backup i selected the option. Backup to a hard drive that is dedicated for backups. Well that didn't work when I swapped out the drive on Monday. So I change the backup to backup to a volume. The next 4 days worked fine, but Friday couldn't fine the volume. So I have to modify the backup every Friday. How can I get this to work everyday. I've tried reformatting the Friday drive and still fails.

Any clues?

Just had a client pc on a small domain, 15 clients, to crash. So I built a new screaming machine w/Windows 7 Ultimate. The old pc ran XP Pro. I tried to name the new computer the same as the old one that's dead, but I get an error saying there is already one on the domain by that name. I think it has something to do with the DNS name (a completely uneducated guess on my part) but can't seem to figure it out. I'm very new to servers and domains. Thanks in advance. JDK

Hello, I am trying to setup a Windows 2008 2-node fail-over cluster using Windows 2008 Server Enterprise R2. After the Verify cluster configuration wizard completes, I get the following error: System Configuration->Validated Services: An error occurred while executing the test. There was an error validating that there are no unsigned drivers. OpenService 'RPCSs' failed. Access is denied. This error always shows up for the second node. So, say I run the verify cluster wizard on node 1 and will get stated error for node2. If I run the cluster verify wizard from node2 then I get the stated error for node1. Also, I helped setup a similar cluster (2 nodes fai…

Hi all, I have a very odd issue, in that DCOM permissions are being reset from CUSTOM back to DEFAULT, and causing event id 10016 The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID. I have worked a lot with DCOM on previous versions of Windows Server. This instance is Server 2008 X64. I have done the following, but the issue is still appearing: - checked Group Policies - none set to reset to default - added the default groups to the local security policy SDDL settings - setup Process Monitor but this didn't capture due to running out of memory I am now looking into auditing the registry …
