I have a problem with an XP share. I could access this share from my server 2008 R2 DC but had to enter a login and password each time. I decided to tick remember password to avoid this. Now I cannot access the share. It keeps saying Username does not exist. I can map a drive letter to it and tick use different credentials but each time I have to do this. Obviously this name/password has been cached somewhere. How do I get rid of this cached password so that it goes back to the way it was?

Hello, I have a W2k8 Ent SP2 server running a default website. The server is a domain member and the website is running under a certificate (protocol bindings https, 443) and uses Digest Authentication. Under this website severall virtual folders exists, each with their own 'Authorisation Rules'. So far so good. (Test) users can access the main login page en will get, based on their groupmembership, acces to an virtual folder. I have severall testusers. They all connect to the webserver and get access to their virtual directorie. This works like an charm. The problem: One of the virtual directories is created as a webdav area. Hi, I am running a server 2008 r2 machine that i also want to use for general use as well sometimes (it has 4GB of RAM) I just wondered what will keep my server/network running the fastest while im using it for other things? - Desktop user experience and just use the computer for the general stuff or - virtualize a windows 7 box in hyper-v or VMware - and alocate it 1gb of ram plus some hard drive space (it has to be at least 1gb or it will feel so slow to me when im used to 4gb) Taking into account the destop experience will stay switched on all the time even when im not using it - as oposed to a virtual machine unloading its use of ram once im finishe…

I have crtaeted an MMC console using mmc at run utility and named it as Security9 After creating mmc when I save it, by default its saved in the path "Desktop\Administrator\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Administartive Tools\" When I go on start menu and click on "Administartive Tools", I dont see Security9 in the option list. Then I checked path for this "Administartive Tools" and this path was "c:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools\". So I saved Security9 under this path manually and now I can see it in the list of "Administrative Tools" Whats the difference between path of "Administrative Tools" where…

I was going through exercise 3.4 of Network Infrastructure, Implementation, Management and Maintenance book. In this its stated "Attempt to logon with an account name that does not exist. The logon should fail (because there is no user account with that name)." Now when I log off as administrator and attempt to switch users, I can logon as only one of the users created in the system. Now how can I even try to logon with the non existent account name ? As I have the option to click on one of the user names created in the system and logon as one of these users only. Please explai, how can I test non-existent user. Thanks

Hi, I hope someone can help me... I cannot enable the Windows Server 2008 r2 'Active Directory Recycle Bin' no matter what commands I run from the AD power shell module. I clicked on 'run as Administrator' as well Also i tried the command to import the modules - which worked but then any other commands fail: - setting the forest functional level to r2 (this has already been done by windows) - i ran the command anyway - failed - enabling the AD recycle bin with the ADOptions with all the DN= and CN= stuff in it. - failed. I don't know what else to try and i really need this feature as i fear i would accidentlly delete stuff. Thank you Timez

I have a physical install of Server 2008 and a virtual machine install of Server 2008. The physical install has AD, DNS, and DFS installed. The virtual only has DNS and DFS. I am able to ping by name and IP on both systems the opposite system without any issues. However, I am not able to browse the virtual on the physical in the networks listing. (They are both in the same domain--we will call them server1.home.com and server2.home.com--so they are both in home.com.)I can browse the physical from the virtual. When I create a namespace on the physical and then put a folder in there from the physical it works fine. I cannot locate a folder on the virtual as it does n…

Hi all, I have a 2008 domain in 2008 mode, 2 DC's (2008) and wish to set up a domain based DFS, but the 2008 mode is greyed out. I can assure you that AD is replicating happily and there are no other DFS's on the network. Does anyone know where to start on this issue? Thx

Hello everyone, I´m trying to establish OPC communications from a machine with WS 2008 and I´m having problems configuring DCOM through DCOMCNFG. I want to alter the permissions for DCOM, but when I open: Component Services ---> MY Computer --> Properties --> Com Security tab. the buttons "Edit Limits" are grayed out, and I can´t find a way to give them back to normal life. I have Domain admin key with admin rights on the local server. I have tried to delete all users in the security policy (Local Security Settings-> Security Options -> DCOM: Machine Launch Restrictions) but that didn´t work.
