Hi i have troubles with active desktop here my setup: Host: Windows XP With vmware virtual machines: Guests: Windows 2008 R2 Server Standard + Windows XP as Client PC I already make a group policy for wallpaper but when i login in Client PC wallpaper doesnt change, do i need to install something to windows xp client pc? I tried group policy wizard to check but the wallpaper GPO says that its Empty and doesnt take it the client pc. Thanks in advance.

I have an Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit and until today it just had a 700g RAID1 (Hardware based) The RAID Controller is an simple onboard SATA RAID Controller with 4 Ports. 2 of them have been used for the System and Exchange with 2x 700gb Harddrives. Yesterday i added two 1.5 gb Harddrives and created an additional RAID1 with has the state "Healthy" in Controller Bios. So now that Controller has TWO RAID1 with the Status Healthy, the old one with the system on it and the new one without any Data on it. When i now open the Storage Manager, the System Raid is shown with the Driveletters C:(System) and D:(automaticaly created 200mb Filesystem) But the new RAID …

Hi All, I have this web application I'm revising and hitting a wall when publishing to a 64 bit machine. It fails to run when I navigate to a page that accesses the Fusion Charts dll on the 64 bit machines ON a 32 bit machine there is no issue, FC runs fine on my 32 bit Vista x86 machine w/IIS 7. The 64 bit machines are Win Server 2008 R2 & Win 7. In each instance IIS 7 was set up the same as the 32 bit vista box and fwiw on the 64 bit machine 32 bit application mode was enabled. So I have my modem/wireless router connected to my server and want to put out wireless and wired network connectivity. I have server 2008 set up and I want to use the server for all like websites and all. Is this possible? My problem is I do not know about assigning IP. Were can I get some good direction on setting this up? I have MSHOME net now and I want to ping all off the server. I have taken my 2008 class but that taught me more about install and maintain. Can anyone throw some good links at me. I have some good idea were to start I just need to know about static IP and how to make my other pcs see this server?

There's probably a good/easy answer to this but I'm at a loss... I'm running a small LAN with Win 2008 Server and (for the purpose of this discussion) a single Win 2000 Professional "workstation". It's a new/fresh install of 2008 Server. I thought I set up DNS and DHCP properly (we'll see :) ). I'll call the server "S", the workstation "W", and the gateway "G" (a Linksys hard-wired unit). On S (a static IP addr), an ipconfig will show my static address, the ip address of G, I've set up forwarding to my ISP DNS's so I can ping "G", "W", out to the internet, get DNS translation/resolution, IE works fine, ... Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to read this. Ok we have a Dell R710 server w/ one of those gigabit quad network cards. Well I setup this 2008 server standard sp2 to act as a basic file sharing AD server w/ DHCP/DNS on a Time Warner 3mb down 1.5 up connection and everything was flawless and worked perfectly. Then corporate decided "Oh hey lets switch ISPs" for some ungodly known reason. Well we switched to Deltacom (who was smoking crack on this decision?) and ever since the switch we have had what feels like internet similar to a satellite connection. I am in the small business network environment. Typical customers range from 3 computers to 20. I use several Windows OS installations for servers - frm WinXP to Server 2008. I have installed two dual server environments (I am working on the third right now), and I have done network design for about 6 new construction installations. I install unmanaged network environments. I am mostly self taught, and I love to tweak my own backup programs that will run with batch files during non-peak times. Someday soon, I will fade into retirement, and try to enjoy life without as much stress. Meanwhile, I am plugging away until that day of full social security benefits.

5.0.6 is on it's way to the land of cloud and deployment. We've got a freshly baked beta here for you today. There are loads of fixes, and new extensions. The full list is with our release notes. Key things include: More clunky javascript removal, more beautiful CSS used for transitions More slow javascript removed, more beautiful native Javascript used (fixes lots of minor things, including slow tag selection) More editor fixes More Javascript and CSS removed to address layout shifts and reflows for that beautiful Pagespeed. Bumper extensions and listeners for developers to use including: MFA Handlers, share services, userMenu additions, loads more listener types (polls, courses, files, etc), more extensions methods for tables and clubs. We’ve been testing Horizon internally for some time and are now ready to test here on Meta so we can get your feedback on how to continue improving this theme. In this topic, we’ll share the goals behind Horizon and provide guidance for how to test and share your feedback with us. Getting to know Horizon Horizon is a simple, beautiful theme that aspires to become the new out-of-the-box experience for Discourse sites. Who is Horizon for? While we hope that Horizon is a great fit for many communities, we created Horizon with specific users in mind — non-technical admins and everyday members. Non-technical admins are community admins who have limited technical expertise and no access to design or development resources. They don’t have the resources or know-how to customize Discourse’s appearance to work best for their community, but still believe that Discourse is a great fit for their community. Everyday members fall somewhere in between the one-time visitor and the elite power user. They regularly read and post in the community, and are more likely to visit Discourse primarily (if not exclusively) from their phones. We are proud that Discourse is so flexible and customizable, we want to make sure Discourse remains a great option for all communities, regardless of technical expertise or resources. We created Horizon for admins that don’t have access to design or developer resources, but still want a great looking community that your members will love. What’s different about Horizon? While our Default theme is a relatively blank slate, Horizon is an opinionated theme. That means we have made certain choices about how Discourse looks and operates while using this theme in order to provide a great overall user experience for our target users (described above). Here are some changes you might notice: Topic cards are less information dense. The most noticeable feature of Horizon is the topic card. We have pruned out as much information as we can to keep the topic list looking clean and approachable. Certain information, like a more robust list of topic participants and topic tags, are not visible on the topic card. Horizon is not intended to support additional customizations. Because we’re targeting an audience that isn’t able or interested in customizing Discourse’s appearance or behavior, Horizon is not guaranteed to work well with all theme components or customizations. That said, we’ve tested Horizon against the most popular theme components and the incompatibilities we’ve found so far are minor. We’ll work to address those over time. For now, we do not recommend activating theme components with Horizon or adding your own customizations. Horizon includes new color palettes that admins can enable to give members greater control over their community experience. Once enabled through the admin Color Palette settings, members can select from one of six theme-specific color palettes for a custom look and feel. Larger text in the reading area. You’ll notice that Horizon’s reading area (i.e. topics) has slightly larger text than the rest of the interface text. We’re experimenting with this differentiated text size with the hope that it makes topics easier to read, while keeping less important text — like sidebar links — more minimal and less distracting. Testing and sharing your feedback You can check out Horizon on Meta using the theme switcher in the bottom of your sidebar: As you test here on Meta or in your own community, you may run into issues with the visual design or incompatibilities with certain theme components or customizations. When that happens, please let us know. Your feedback will help us improve Horizon so that we can begin making it available more broadly. Please note that we may not address all feedback that we receive at this time. That doesn’t mean your feedback is invalid or invaluable — it just means we want to continue to test a certain idea or design decision to better understand how it serves the needs of our target users. Known issues / work in progress areas Here are a few areas where we’re actively working: Improving the topic timeline design. Right now it’s a little wide, we’d like to make it more subtle so it takes up less visual space and demands less attention. Identifying areas where layouts and styles aren’t applying correctly. The invite screens are one area where there are minor visual discrepancies. We’ve made a lot of these fixes already, but please keep letting us know as you find areas where things don’t look quite right. Touching up color palettes to ensure accessibility. Horizon has a more streamlined color system (and has inspired some new color palettes, e.g. Lily, Clover, Royal, Marigold, etc.). Ever since we introduced the admin sidebar, our long term goal has been to bring a more comprehensive search to the admin interface that helps admins and moderators find exactly what they need without having to dig through many pages and settings manually. This method is so much faster than the old way, and we are excited to see if it helps you navigate the admin interface more efficiently . Finding what you’re looking for You can launch a quick search from anywhere in the admin interface with the shortcut Ctrl+/ , or on macOS, ⌘ +/ . This will bring up a window like this: You will see here that there are several different checked boxes beneath the input. These are the types of things you can search from here: Pages - Every page in the admin interface, including sub-pages not shown in the sidebar, and plugin pages Settings - Every site setting, which includes the setting description and keywords Themes - Every installed theme, whether they are enabled or disabled Components - Every installed theme component, whether they are enabled or disabled Reports - Every admin report, which includes a description of the report You can click these boxes to filter out the various types of search results. Here are some examples of each: Pages Settings Themes Components Reports You can also visit a full page version of the search by pressing Enter when results are being shown, or by clicking “Search” in the admin sidebar, which will take you to /admin/search. Enabling admin search You can turn this feature on with the experimental admin search enabled groups setting, which you can find in the Experimental config page at /admin/config/experimental: Note that when this feature is enabled, the keyboard shortcut for the admin sidebar filter is used for the search instead. Testing and sharing your feedback We are opening up this feature for feedback now, please post in this topic if you have any or if you notice any bugs that need to be fixed. At this time, we won’t be going much deeper into improvements for this search, but we will make it as good as we can in its current state.
