Hello guys, figured you guys would be able to provide me with the information I need. This is the first time I am setting up a server, so everything is a bit new to me still. This is the situation: we have a small office with three computers, and I figured we could set up a server using some old hardware (for lulz, basically). This office is situated in a big building with many offices and computers, and there is one internet connection for the whole thing, which means we until now had different static IP's for all computers in the office. Here is my plan: instead of all of our computers connecting directly to the internet and the house network, only the server woul…

Host has W2K8 standard running 4 virtual machines. The VM's (also W2K8 standard except 1 on W2k8 R2) can see each other fine, all appear on the network but can't see the host server (can't ping, can't \\192.168.x.x to it). The host however doesn't appear on the network, can't ping any of the VM's but can ping everything else on the network. MOST annoying. Have tried disabling all firewalls, Network discovery is on - although only sets to 'custom' on the host. Running out ideas & patience Any ideas???

My 2008 server acts as a gateway between the network and the internet. The modem is directly connected to the server and then the server distributes the internet to the LAN. Recently (although this will sound out of place) youtube.com stopepd loading. I figured it was just something local on my machine but have come to realize its on all the workstations and it needs to work. After doing alot of searching on the internet i've come to realize that this may be a DNS problem because when i log onto the server itself, youtube will load with NO problem. Why is it all of a sudden not working? PLEASE HELP ME!

Hi guys, I have installed windows server 2008 standard on our server en installed around 13 printers on this server which the users can use to print. But everytime the print spooler stops and in the eventvwr i see the following error. "application with error spoolsv.exe, module with error SN0EUD.DLL. exceptioncode 0xc0000409, error marge 0x000000000000769b" in between of this error are some time stamps and ****, but i think this is the important information. What could cause that the print spooler stops in unpredictable intervals. Thanks

Hi all, I'm a problem with my server win2008 (B. 6002 SP2), 2 mounth ago, this has begin to freeze without an apparent reason. On event viewer there isn't nothing, only a "The previous system shutdown at xx.xx.xx on xx/xx/xxxx was unexpected." before the forced shutdown. This server is my Exchange Server 2007 with all the windows updates, is a virtual machine on ESX too. On the Reability and Performance Monitor, tab Reliability Monitor, i see only a message "Disruptive shutdown" on the dates that I must restart forced the PC. There is any that help me to know where is the problem? Francisco Ramos (Sorry for my english, is wrong)

I'd been having difficulties in deleting a disk volume to give more disk space to the C: drive that the operating system is on and making room for sharepoint, IIS and SQL. Somehow or another Windows Server 2008 R2 was deleted. no big deal, all data was backed up. however, now i cannot reinstall windows because the drives are dynamic and windows setup will not allow me to delete volumes or convert them. PLEASE HELP! I'm in HUGE trouble! I MUST get windows 2008 r2 back on this machine ASAP or I could be fired from this small company!

Hello, I'm having a problem with the memory usage at windows server 2008, 32bits. I have 4gb of memory, but when I work with a data manipulation program (Stata 10) I can only allocate 1,100mb of memory. Someone knows what could be happening? Months ago I could allocate 1,500mb (not what I wanted/needed), but when I installed the Panda antivirus my situation got worse. Sorry for my english, and thanks.

Hi, I have installed windows server 2008 (web edition) + service pack 2 on my PC, to replace windows XP in order to be able to use IIS 7. Since then, I have a high CPU usage for almost all applications, particularly web browsers (especially with Flash apps running), Visual Studio, and Photoshop. My PC has an Athlon XP 3000+, 3 Gb RAM. It's not a recent computer but these applications mentionned above were working flawlessly under windows XP. Is there something I can do ? Thanks

Okay I don't know much about servers and licencing so here's the go. Theres 15 people/computers at work in the accoutning department. We are getting a new myob at work but it wont run on our current server so we are getting a new server. We will be putting Server 2008 Standard R2 on it and will have all 15 poeple connected to the server to use myob. We will also have 5 people that will need to remote desktop to the server to use myob outside the office from home or another site or whatever. Besides purchasing Server 2008 Standard R2 what else do we need to purchase to have the 15 people connect to it at work and those 5 connect to it from outside of work?

Hello, I am recently new to the 2008 platform and am unsure what the difference is between the share permissions. Contributor Owner Co-owner Reader We have some users setup as co-owners and some as contributors. I want these users to be able to access shares and make modifications so I am unsure which of the two I should use, co-owner or contributor. Any advice is much appreciated. Tommy

Hi guys I'm new in this forum and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a problem I encountered using Windows Server 2008. I have setup a VPN and that seems to be working fine since I manage to connect without any problems. Also I have created other users and gave them dial-in permissions and all of them can connect to the VPN simultaneously without any problems. Here is where the weird part starts. The first user that logs into the VPN is able to access the shared files on the server and also to access remote desktop to the serval using its internal IP {192.168.3.x} ... BUT when the second user logs in, he is unable to access the shared files and r…
