Hi All I have installed windows2008 server in its own forest with its own DNS/DHCP etc - completely in its own network (separate addresses) in itw own VLAN. On another VLAN I have another windows server 2003 installation. Both these installations were never initially designed to share resources. Now I have been told that 2 users in the windows2003 network needs to be able to login to the windows2008 network. What was really required was that the users be able to select the windows2008 domain from the XP logon dialogue box. I have not done much in the way of trusted domains or forests before. So what I really want to do is a one way trust so that domain windo…

Hi, I install a new Windows 2008 server with WDS on it. I am able to make image and it is working pretty well, almost all of the time  My problem is that sometimes, after the image processing, the keyboard and mouse is not working on some HP and Sun workstation after the mini reseal of sysprep operation of Windows XP. I use the command "sysprep -activated -pnp -reseal -mini -reseal -reboot. It is a problem of my image server or what? I didn't not use any unatendend file for that. Thanks for any help :)

I have hyper V installed and running. The guest operating systems can not access the virtual network nic. I have linked the virtual switch adapter as external to the virtual guest operating system. The guest operating system does not see a nic at all. I think I need to unbind the extra nics in the host system. I am only running hyper V without windows 2008. How do I unbind the extra nics from the command line?

Hello, We are working on an application that uses DHCP server on Windows 2003/2008 for IP allocation. For one requirement, we have added IgnoreBroadcastFlag to windows registry, to unicast DHCP responses, as per the following link. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc780718.aspx This works fine on Windows 2003. However, when the IgnoreBroadcastFlag is set to 0 on Windows 2008, we are not getting expected results. I haven't found any relevant link for Windows 2008. Is this flag supported on Windows 2008? Is any documentation available for same? Is there any way to check in the Windows 2008 DHCP server, to find out exactly where it is failing? I d…

Is it possible to query "Applications and Services logs" using WMI/WQL, as we do for querying Windows Logs (i.e, SELECT * FROM Win32_NTLogEvent) ? Querying Win32_NTLogEvent returns only Windows primary logs, how can we query Application and Services log, if possible for instance Microsoft-->Windows-->GroupPolicy/Operational events Thanks in advance, Bhaskar

Hello Everyone, I have been looking for a tool that will import an XML file into a 2008 server that adds roles. I know I can use the ServerManager tool, but I'm told there is a tool that can import selected roles, and also exports roles that exist on a server to an xml file. Has anyone heard or knows of this tool?

I have installed Server 2008 web x64 on my PC and intend using it as a workstation. I'd like to know how to do a couple of things.. 1. I'm not worried about login security. How can I automate/disable the login process. 2. No serving will be done, I will be browsing, gaming, burning, word-processing, ripping and torrenting. Is there a comprehensive list of services I can turn-off?

Hi, First post Hopefully this is the right forum but I have no means of testing this. When installing IIS on SBS 2008 does the installation require the CD to install correctly? I know with Server 2003 you require the CD but for each version of SBS, Data Center, etc of 2008 is the cd required? Thanks

Hello All, I need to run SQL Server Workgroup/Standard 2005/2008 for a group of about 10 to 15 people. That is ALL the server needs to do. I looked at SBS 2008 and even it seems a bit overkill with all of the features it has. Is there a better small server Windows OS choice? Thanks, Craig
