I have a client on a win2K8 serevr using iis7. they redirected the root to the 2nd drive. d:\intepub\wwwroot they then set IUSR permissions to allow access to this folder. everything works fine as long as they do not reboot. upon reboot the iusr permission is lost. the iusr account is not even listed on that folder anymore. they have to reassign the usr then the permissions. after every reboot. ideas?

Hello, I have created a simple scheduled task to run an executable. I can manualy start this executable, but have to accept it through UAC. However, when run through the Task Scheduler (either manually or by a trigger), there appears to be something wrong. The executable does either not start or doesn't start with the appropriate rights. I've tried running as Administrator and as SYSTEM as well as with or without Highest privileges. Could someone please help me with this? Thanks!

Hello, I installed windows server 2008 exclusively to develop a website on localhost. I have an internet connection (PPPoE), that works just fine, but i don't want to use it when I'm developing my website (it keeps my focus on the project rather then surfing the internet). If i do not connect to a network every time i start firefox it asks for a connection to a network and if I click cancel it pops up again. If I put firefox offline I can't navigate not even in localhost. Hello, I contracted a dedicated server with windows server 2008 installed, that its hosted in 1and1. I'm setting up domains with web and email server. The webs are working and POP3 and SMTP server its working too, but webmail doen't works (horde). I write on web explorer webmail.[mydomain].net and appears: HTTP Error 404.2 - Not Found The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the ISAPI and CGI Restriction list settings on the Web server. I had spoke with 1and1 tech service and they said that its a DNS problems, because the mails are hosted in 1and1 servers and i have to change this DNS directions. May somebody help me? Thanks

Hey there, I am loading up a new dell server, have license for 2008 enterprise x64. Loaded up at office, using dhcp and only one nic. worked great. Took to client site, hooked up both nics. Windows shows local network only. cant get on internet, can join domain. cant update, or register. i can map a drive to other server, i can ping inside network, but nothing outside. other machines work fine just the new 2008 server not workin. Hello, Here 's the problem . I recently installed server 2008 which is managing near about 15 clients . Its a 10 CAL license software. Its been used as a file share server and ofcourse AD with DNS server integrated in it . The problem is that after a while like the server stops responding to the clients request . By that i mean users cant access files and their shared folders. We have to manually restart the server for it to work again. There were some errors but i fixed them there are only some warning which mostlly are print spooler event id 3 and kerberos key distribution center event id 29 , Any ideas how to fix this.??

I upgraded from Win 2003 Standard with IIS 6.0 to Server 2008 Standard... in the process it kept IIS 6 and installed IIS 7. I need to know how to uninstall IIS 6, as it is holding an SMTP service that I need uninstalled in order to install Exchange Server 2007 SP1. There is nothing in the Programs listing in Control Panel (old vers of Add/Remove Programs). Any help would be greatly appreciated as my email server is down at this time.

Hello, I recently received a copy of Server 08, TFS 08, VSTS 08, SQL Server 08 and proceeded to install them several times do to issues that were occurring. I've finally got a good install and downloaded the MS updates only to find that I can not open the context menu on the default Start Menu. By default I mean when you click the start button what it shows, right clicking does nothing. But if you click All Programs the feature has returned. I have several "menu" folders as well (My Computer, My Documents, Control Panel, User (folder) and Administrator Tools) and once these menus expand right clicking does nothing to them. Hi,I am trying to set up virtual mailservers on my Webserver 2008.I installed the SMTP feature.When install and run hmailserver I get an error taht my port 143 cannot be connected as it in use by someone else.When I run a portcheck it can't find my port 143 either ( It tried my disabling my firewall but with no luck)Somewhere I am totally going the worng way but I cannot find my way back. Hi there. I have recently promoted my new 2008 server to DC in my domain. I have yet to take down the old DC which is running SBS 2003. My problem seems to lie with DNS or some kind of Global catalog server problem. On the new machine, when I disconnect the old DC, Active directory does not populate, also sites and services doesn't either and when I run DCDIAG on the new machine I get the error 1355 saying the global catalog server cannot be contacted, along with the PDC server. I have since checked to make sure it is a global catalog server, and made sure it holds the PDC role too which it does. What am I missing?

When having users log on to domain I am forcing a user to change password at next logon and they are getting access denied! It's wierd because it is not happening to everyone just some. I have verified that the "password never expires"and /or "user can't change password" is NOT checked. Can anyone assist with this please??

What seems to be the problem? First week of February we start to use this windows 2008 server with vista clients. As I experienced, the vista clients when these are now member of the domain and start to experienced freezing. Like opening some word documents, surfing on the net and every application you open you end up with the circle of death. Not like before these vista client just working in workgroup it works fine. But now the hung-ups intermittent! The network now was very slow. You cannot access the folder files on the server. We use novell to map drives for certain users in our system. Each user group has different drive mappings to various locations on sometimes seperate servers My question is, is it possible to map a drive, using windows built in drive mapping, to a location outside of the domain? Its possible using a login script, but we were wondering if it was possible using the group policies (it will save us a lot of scripting etc...) Hello, Ive got a question... I installed a Windows 2008 server x64 with Exchange 2008. The AD is a Windows 2008 domain. Server is a HP ML350 G5 server with a Broadcom N373i NIC. We have the problem that we have many, probably network related, problems. Windows XP Pro machines logon very slowly, Outlook 2007 is slow and calanders do not show, Network mappings are not availible, etc etc. We tryed the follow, New Cables New Switch New Motherboard New NIC drivers New NIC (Intel) Disable RSS and IP4 Large Send Offload None of these are the solution for the problem, does anyone have an idea why i can test or change ?

On my XP Pro SP3 system all of my SATA drives show up in Safely Remove Hardware. On my Server 2008 with Hyper-V none of my SATA drives show up in Safely Remove Hardware. The XP system has one ADDONICS AESNAPMRSA SNAP-IN SATA MOBILE RACK - STORAGE ENCLOSURE. The Server system has two. These allow me to plug in or remove a SATA drive while the system is running. On the XP system I simply select the drive in the Safely Remove Hardware window and press Stop then press OK and I can remove the drive.
