Hi all, I'm newbie to Windows and sorry for the FAQ. A domain (mydom.edu.hk) is setup with 2 DCs. Clients on other vlan can't join the domain with error "The network was not found". ok hi, im using microsoft network monitor to monitor packets and active connections etc, but ive got a feeling its missing alot of traffic. I need it to monitor all incomming and outgoing traffic through the router. Below is an image of my current setup. Say a connection to 192.168.0.15 on the red line came in, the server would not monitor the traffic to it. So i was thinking, maybe i need to intercept the traffic alltogeather as there is not an option in microsoft network monitor to listen on a specific host (192.168.0.1) so something like this... Please give some comments on this Thanks!!

The new tool for backlinks analysis is available at http://ahrefs.com since march 2011. It provides lots of useful backlinks statistics for your and your competitors' (or everyone else's) sites. Distinguishing feature of this tool is an independent database refreshed in realtime (circa 6 billion external and 25 billion internal links added each day). You're welcome to try new possibilities on any URLs you are interested in! [broken External Image]:http://ahrefs.com/images/ahrefs-scr.gif [broken External Image]:http://ahrefs.com/images/SE-scr.gif

Hallo, I want to install Windows Hyper-V Server on the new Via Nano (Isaiah) processor. I am using the Mainboard VIA VB8001. I downloaded the Hyper-V Server from here: Download details: Hyper-V Server 2008 Additionally I downloaded the Hotfix KB949459 (The new 64-bit CPU from VIA Technologies is not recognized on computers that are running Windows XP or later operating systems) to support this processor, integrated it by means of the Vista Update Integrator into the setup and burned a new setup DVD. But still a bluescreen with the errorcode 0x0000005D (Unsupported Processor) is displayed during setup. Does anyone see the problem? Is there another hotfix, whic…

Once you decide to start a community you have to decide which forum software to use. Choosing the best forum software depends on your specific needs, such as ease of use, customization, and community features. Here are some popular options: Discourse: Modern and user-friendly, with features like real-time discussions, mobile support, and extensive plugins. phpBB: A classic, open-source forum software that is highly customizable and has a large community. Vanilla Forums: Offers both open-source and paid versions, known for its clean interface and integration options. Flarum: A lightweight and modern forum software that is easy to set up and customize. I go back and forth on this. On a couple of my sites I have chat enabled. The chat works well on those sites and compliments the forum well. The sites I use chat software on are an off topic forum and a computer help forum. I have used it on other sites and on those the chat took over. Everyone went to posting in the chat instead of the fourm. What's your thoughts?

Hello everyone! I'm basically new in managing Windows 2008 Server R2. I'm trying to open a port for a specific application in Windows Firewall (in domain group policies), so I create an "inbound rule" allowing traffic to the specific port. The problem is that the connection is not working. I disabled the firewall, I turn down the antivirus, and the connection is somehow blocked. When I run netstat -an and add the filter to show the "listening" ports, the port that I opened before in the inbound rules is not appearing. I tried with other ports and the results are the same. Any idea of what could be the problem? Thanks in advance!

Have a weird issue all of a sudden. I have an administrative log in for my 2008 domain controller. All of a sudden today I cannot log in at the console or through remote desktop. I can log in from a workstation and access all shares, including administrative shares. I attempted to log in as administrator and since I haven't done this in a while it prompted me to change the password. I changed the administrator password and now can not log in as administrator either. I'm baffled.

Hi We have setup Terminal Server and have everything working and client's printers are mapping fine, but the issue we are having is that when user remote desktop into the server the printers are not copying the printing perfernces settings to the server and when user changes this when logged in to the server it does not keep the setting after logging off either. Does anyone know how to sort this issue out?

I am the administrator for the whole system (network) and I have done something by accident (in active directory) which is preventing one of my computers on the network (webdev computer) from accessing it's own C drive (access denied). Furthermore, when I am logged into the Windows server 2008 as "Administrator", I look under "Computer" and I see the "C on WEBDEV" drive, but even when I click on it in there, it denies me access. I have access to everything else except for that drive. P.S. When I am logged in as a "user" or as "administrator" on the WebDev computer and look at the C drive, there is an icon with 2 people in it (I am assuming this is an icon for permissi…

I'll try not to rant. This used to be easy. Now it's not. I went to Server Manager. I added the File Services Role. I installed the Windows Server 2003 File Serices and the Indexing Service. I rebooted. The Indexing Service is running. I checked "Always search file names and contents" in the search options. Searches for a folder containing files with the searched-for text fail. Some similar threads talk about enabling disks for indexing. I don't know how to do that. There's a whole lot of stuff out there about adding folders to libraries and somehow enabling indexing on them but (say what?) - hey - there's got to be an easy way to do this. No? I know I can download and…
