Hello, I am recently new to the 2008 platform and am unsure what the difference is between the share permissions. Contributor Owner Co-owner Reader We have some users setup as co-owners and some as contributors. I want these users to be able to access shares and make modifications so I am unsure which of the two I should use, co-owner or contributor. Any advice is much appreciated. Tommy

Hello, Here 's the problem . I recently installed server 2008 which is managing near about 15 clients . Its a 10 CAL license software. Its been used as a file share server and ofcourse AD with DNS server integrated in it . The problem is that after a while like the server stops responding to the clients request . By that i mean users cant access files and their shared folders. We have to manually restart the server for it to work again. There were some errors but i fixed them there are only some warning which mostlly are print spooler event id 3 and kerberos key distribution center event id 29 , Any ideas how to fix this.??

Hi everyone, I'm trying to do a clean install of a Windows 2008 Server Standard but I'm having a problem that I have not found on the net yet, so I'll try to explain here. I cannot drop any screenshots since I'm installing the new server on 3 HD's Raid5 in the same case as the one running a Win2003 server now. So I won't be able to try some manoeuvers too. Problem: The installation worked (RAID5), installed NIC driver and being able to connect to internet without problems. I installed the AD function and was trying to install the DNS server with dcpromo.exe. With our without 'the Advanced settings option', I can: - create new domain in new forest - type…

Hi There, We have a 2008 standard server and all is well except that we can't ping the hostname. The ip address is 192.168.0.110 on ip4. If I have ipv6 enabled all i get is 4 x replies from a mac address fe80::a47d:38c: etc. if I diasble ipv6 then all i get is 4 x a replies from ::1: The preferred dns on ipv4 is set to 192.168.0.110 and the dns server is running.... We have also noted that unfortunately the server has the server domain name of "domainname.co.uk" rather than "domainname.local" It looks like it is still a nightmare to rename the domain therefore is it possible make changes to the dns settings of this server to address this...? Many thank…

Another odd duck after my Server 2008 installation... Internet Explorer 8 (or any other version of IE) cannot access local sites (e.g. on my Intranet). Example: My hardware router/firewall is set up at IP address 192.168.1.2 - one accesses/controls it via IE (it has a builtin web-server). When I try to access http://192.168.1.2 - IE8 punts me through the router itself on to the Internet (no longer on my LAN/Intranet) and I get a "192.168.1.2 not found" from bing. Yes, I've added 192.168.1.2 to my security -> intranet -> add setting for IE8. I can ping it just fine (it is working as I'm getting routed/forwarded out to the Internet) - it is just that I cannot speci…

Hi there, i have a problem with the x64-Bit-version of WinServ2008 Standard. I wanted to set up a print-server. Well, i already installed a few dell-printer drivers, x32- and x64-Bit-versions (for win XP, the xp drivers are running under vista as well) and it worked perfectly. Now i tried to install some x32-bit-driver-versions of the "konica minolta bizhub 250/350 printer". -.- In the first window of the driver install assistant are 3 checkboxes, to select "x64", "x32" and "Itanium" -usermode for the driver. But even when i select "x32" (i am sure that this is a x32-XP driver), a messagebox appears and says "you have to install the selected driver remotely from a …

Hi guys, I have installed windows server 2008 standard on our server en installed around 13 printers on this server which the users can use to print. But everytime the print spooler stops and in the eventvwr i see the following error. "application with error spoolsv.exe, module with error SN0EUD.DLL. exceptioncode 0xc0000409, error marge 0x000000000000769b" in between of this error are some time stamps and ****, but i think this is the important information. What could cause that the print spooler stops in unpredictable intervals. Thanks

HI I currently have a Windows Server 2008 Foundation set up as a domain controller for an office of about 6 clients. I have the default 2 administrator remote desktop connections enabled and working for us to connect to the server from outside the office, however i now have the need for two more connections to the server, so a total of 4 required. Could someone guide me towards what i need to do to achieve this? I have been looking into TSCALS as i think this is the direction i need to go to get this set up but im not 100% sure. Any advise would be greatly appreciated Kind Regards Leo

Hi Experts, I have setup and installed the drivers for 'Samsung SCX-4300 Series' Printer on the windows server 2008 at work. Done Sharing it. I want to Deploy this printer automatically on any client(user) that's on the domain created on the server, when the user logs into his/her account. I created a GPO for this, and in the User Configurations, Logon section, I included the following Script file. I actually tried out two script files (one at a time ofcourse): 1) I created a .bat file and stored the following script in it CSCRIPT C:\Windows\System32\Printing_Admin_Scripts\en-US\prnmngr.vbs -ac -p \Serv2K8\Samsung SCX-4300 Series where Serv2k8 is …

I know that some of you have experience moving from vb to IPB. I'm about to do that with a nice sized forum and no vbseo, thankfully. Wondering what you guys have done to optimize your site and if you did anything special given the existing forum content.

When we upgrade from windows 2003 to windows 2008 server, from the clinet computers ( windows 7, xp etc) zebra barcode printer is not prining the barcode fonts. Barcode printer is connection in the client pcs, and locally its working fine. When we connect to the server by terminal connection and give print from application software / crystal report. The redirected printer is not printing the barcode font. We tried all the ways. Finally disabled the easy print driver from Group policy. Then its printing some barcode which is not readable by the scanners. Is there any solution for this. When the connection was through windows 2003 server it was working fine.
