Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend. Today I am trying to figure out and solve the issue with my Windows Server. I am using the x64-bit version of the OS. I am using an Asus M2A-VM motherboard which supports up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM. I currently have 6GB installed, only 3.75GB of which is considered usable by the OS. I want to get to the bottom of this issue so that I can properly use all of the RAM I have installed for this machine. See this image for clarification of the issue: http://i28.tinypic.com/2ccs85s.png Another issue I have concerning this toppic is that if I install another 2GB module into the motherboard, the BIOS won't POST. The modules…

Hi! I have recently moved to the windows server 2008. My 32 bit com+ application used to have configuration file located at: system32 directory. When I had copied the config file to the system32, it was copied automatically to syswow64. I have read somewhere that an application reading system32 directory is automatically and transparently redirected to syswow64 directory. So here goes my questions: 1) Is it enough to copy the config file only to syswow64, should it also been copied to system32? 2) I think, that once when I copied the file to system32 it was copied to the syswow64 and deleted from system32, why? 3) Is it possible the situation that the con…

Hi everybody, I've recently set up Server 2008 R2 as the PDC of an AD. Everything went well so far, but there is one problem I could not solve yet: In the clients' network settings I've entered the IP of the local 2008 R2 server as preferred DNS server. In the alternative DNS server field I've entered the IP of router that connects to the internet. What happens now is that whenever I try to connect to another client or even the server through its domain name, say "s2008.home.tld", the request apparently is handled by the router's DNS server (which forwards to the ISP's DNS server), which obviously returns an "unknown address - no website is configured to this addre…

Hi All, One of my customers is having issues with one of the VB6 software packages we develop. They are running Server 2008 R2 with Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Server), with native 2008 load balancing. I believe it is a virtual server running in VMWare on a Redhat box. The System specs are as follows. OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Processor: Intel® Xeon® CPU X5460 @ 3.16GHz (2 processors) RAM: 4.0GB System Type: 64 Bit The problem is the machine randomly BSOD reboots during the day. I have used windbg to review the memory dumps and have the results below. The faulting module seems to be win32k.sys but the process is my application Syne…

Hi all. I am in the process of setting up a brand new Intel MFSYS 25 modular server system with Windows Web Server 2008 for the purpose of hosting redundant web and mail servers. The MFSYS25 has a shared LUN feature which allows me to create a RAID5 drive and allow multiple servers to access it at the same time. Which is great, because I have created individual system partitions (drive C) for the OS and a shared data partition (D drive) for web files and email to be stored. However, although all servers can see the D: drive it would seem that they can't access the same files at the same time. For example, I have several folders in there and while Server1 can read…

I have googled this problem and everytime I found websites talking about USN rollbacks for windows server 2003 but nothing for 2008. We have a server that runs Vmware ESX and as a virtual machine, we're running Windows server 2008 as a domain controller (without FSMO roles) and have Exchange 2007 installed. Everytime this server starts, the netlogon service is started paused. The company that is installing this server says that it's not a big deal and that it won't cause any issues but I wanted to double check with you guys to get a second oppinion.

Host has W2K8 standard running 4 virtual machines. The VM's (also W2K8 standard except 1 on W2k8 R2) can see each other fine, all appear on the network but can't see the host server (can't ping, can't \\192.168.x.x to it). The host however doesn't appear on the network, can't ping any of the VM's but can ping everything else on the network. MOST annoying. Have tried disabling all firewalls, Network discovery is on - although only sets to 'custom' on the host. Running out ideas & patience Any ideas???

Hi ! I have a backup vbscript that I use to copy a folder that I have on my system (windows server 2008) on a different server (windows server 2003). When I run it manually it works fine. I want to run it with the task scheduler every days. I created a new task that runs my vbs file. When I run it manually it only works when I choose "run only if the user is connected" in the properties of my new task. I want to run it even if no session is started on this server. I tried to lauch my vbs with a bat file and I got that : e:\backup_folfer.vbs(411, 6) Erreur d'excution Microsoft VBScript: Priphrique non disponible which means that the device is not available …

When I publish a HTML page the menu and any flash objects aren't being seen. I have lower all the security settings and enabled everything I could think of. This was never a problem before the service pack 2 for IE. This is on my Web Server with 2008 RC2.
