What's everyone think about SMF? Simple Machines Forum has been around for a long time. Recently, within the past few years at least, they released an update that made their forum responsive. That's more than what MyBB has done. Aside from the looks (to me SMF looks old), it's fairly modern.

Have you ever wanted to create your own forum software? If I had the know-how, I'd love to create software. It would most likely be free software because I don't want to hassle making it into a business. How about everyone else?

Yea I know it just got back. Can't be helped. I will be updating the xenforo from 1.5.14 to 2.3.3. Backups will be made first. When I start the backup I'll close the site. If everything goes well It should only be done a couple hours. See you all on the other side.

A great tip for your newer forum admins. Deal with forum drama quickly and privately if you can! Forum drama is the best way to make a community toxic. Once your community becomes toxic, it's hard to clean it up and make it non-toxic. Drama can hurt feelings and create enemies. Try to resolve it quickly and shut it down from the public as soon as you can.

mybb Exponential Project Update

MyBB’s ecosystem spans across several platforms connecting contributors, authors, and users. In this post, we’ll collect a number of recent highlights from around the Project. 10³ Stars on GitHub Software is often divided into closed- and open-style development. Back in 2009, MyBB switched from the former to the latter, enabling administrators and developers, who tweak their forums in the most random ways, to submit and see their fixes in official releases. invision community Invision Community 5: Assign topics to moderators
by Guest Invision Community News- 0 replies

Forum moderation management used to be straightforward. It was commonplace to assign a moderator to a single forum. They would be responsible for enforcing the rules, removing spam and generally modelling the behaviour you wanted to see within your community. As community management has matured and moderators are tasked with roles based on knowledge, help and support, there is a need for more nuance in managing topics within your community. For example, you may have specialists or teams of specialists who help answer questions about development, sales, or support. Topics that require this help may be posted anywhere within your community. Indeed, this feature was inspired…

invision community Invision Community 5: The all-new editor
by Guest Invision Community News- 0 replies
- 217 views
Invision Community 5 has a brand new editing experience powered by a lightweight, fast React text editor built for mobile and modern browsers. The venerable CKEditor v4 at the core of our current editor is starting to show its age, so we wanted a clean slate with Invision Community v5 with an editor that was optimized for mobile use, easily extensible and had a feature set that would take us into the next era of Invision Community and beyond. The obvious choice was to consider the latest version of CKEditor, but it didn't fit our needs as it wasn't easily extensible, external plug-ins would no longer be possible, and its large footprint would affect page speed scores and …

invision community Invision Community 5: Tagging Reinvented
by Guest Invision Community News- 0 replies
- 46 views
Invision Community v5 takes a fresh approach to tagging and content discovery. It overhauls the concept to bring content across different sections together with a beautiful new tag page. Tagging is a powerful concept but underused with Invision Community 4 due to overly complex interfaces in different areas of the suite, a confusing open tagging model option and no real benefit in content discovery beyond a simple list of content items. A driving force behind Invision Community 5 is the question of how we can help time-pressured community members find the content that most interests them. Invision Community has robust taxonomy through forum and category structures, but wh…
