I have consolidated the individual forum software forums in the new Forum Software Discussions forum. Instead of having a forum for each specific forum software we will use thread prefixes. If you want to suggest any new prefixes that I might have missed let me know.

Starbucks along with AllHeart, Rich and I were the ones that started the site. Starbucks and Rich has since passed. Many of the members have passed. The site was built for older people to get tech help. When you build a site for the older people who are tech challenged you can expect users to pass. In any case it's a good place for tech help.

AWS replied to Shawn's topic in Forum Software Discussions
I believe they took Discourse and made their own fork. Since Discourse is open source you can do that. -
It's pretty good for free. A ton of features. As soon as things stabilize with the power outages here I'll install a phpbb test site.

Great site. Cool people running it and as members.

I want to apologize for the downtime. The servers are located in Tampa. Hurricane Milton hit the area hard. Power was off then on then off again. Last time for almost 24 hours. The site is up at this time. I'm hoping the worst is over. Thanks for hanging in there.

Creating a forum community can be a daunting task. Once you have the domain and everything is set up the way you like it's time to open. Here are some tips for forum admins to effectively manage their communities: Establish Clear Guidelines: Create and enforce clear community rules to maintain a respectful and constructive environment. Engage with Members: Actively participate in discussions to foster a sense of community and encourage members to engage. Moderation Team: Assemble a reliable team of moderators to help manage content and enforce rules consistently. Regular Updates: Keep the forum software and plugins updated to ensure security and enhance user experience. Feedback Mechanism: Implement a system for users to provide feedback on forum features and moderation. Promote Content: Highlight valuable posts or threads to encourage quality contributions. Encourage Introductions: Create a section for new members to introduce themselves, helping to build connections. Organize Events: Host contests, Q&A sessions, or webinars to increase engagement and interaction. Utilize Analytics: Monitor forum activity and user engagement using analytics tools to identify trends and areas for improvement. Be Transparent: Communicate openly about changes, policies, and decisions affecting the community. Conflict Resolution: Handle disputes promptly and fairly, ensuring all parties feel heard. Create FAQs: Develop a FAQ section to address common questions and reduce repetitive inquiries. By following these tips, forum admins can create a thriving, engaged community.

Well I'm back. No damage from the extreme winds. Other people in the neighborhood not so lucky. Servers went offline as I expected. I have them all up and running again. Electric came up as we pulled in the driveway. I saw all the lights in the house turn on. That's what happens when your house in fully automated. I will be working to move the site off the backup server so might be a little glitchy from time to time.

Fixed. I should delete this thread. I had the link directory installed briefly. I didn't like it since it didn't create screenshots of the site on submission like the old LD Link directory script did and like the one I use on my blog. Too much to ask users to take a screenshot to upload. If I can find a way to make it a text only directory I will install it. If you set it not need an attachment it leaves a big blank area for where the screenshot should be.
