I'm getting ready to dive into both (Discourse & Flarum) myself.... There are a few things in wanting to test out and investigate. I think with a little bit of creativity, something amazing will come out of it.

Appreciate the thoughts Bob. Really. All is fine with me. My immediate family is okay. My extended family and friends, well, they didn't get so lucky. Many lost everything. Going to be a long process. When I get the chance, I'll post local news links that shows some better coverage than NBC. I have a few photos myself....

Guesting or Deleting, or Changing Name Accounts....

Ahhh, create an entirely new account, and just consume everything. Didn't think about that. Interesting option. -
Which do you see as better? Guesting/Deleting.. content the same, just an account no longer "linked" to any profile. Account Change.... account still active per se, profile could be accessible (unless changed by Admin - which I think it should be), still comes across as having a human attached to it, not "dead" like the other way. With the "Guest/Delete" I could see members questioning why it's that way... staff issue with member, member issue with staff, reason for leaving, etc.... with the other option, seems there would be less questioning. Your thoughts?

Again, I'm not one to believe in all that nonsense. Just a money maker for Google.... people waste too much time and effort on. Just create good content, rest takes care of itself.

I think a major mistake is starting the site, and attempting to get, say... 5 or 6 staff. I've never understood that. 3 threads, and they'll have 6 staff members listed in the block....

I've never coded anything.... I'm more into styling, etc. I tried a couple times when I first got into firings with VB, but when I decided I couldn't stand that platform, found another (XF), is the only one I've worked with since.

I'll be honest. I'm a fan. I'm a member. One of about 4, well 3 (one recently told me to do something rather disgusting, so I've removed myself from there) now... forums I visit regularly. Sure, there may be some "bashing" going on, I see it more as people allowed to speak freely. You have an opinion, express it. Some may be good, some bad, some you agree with, some you don't. Big deal. If everyone agreed on everything, life would be boring. I've seen a lot of truths posted that wouldn't be able to see the light of day elsewhere. Just pull up your big girl panties and go with the flow. It's the internet, enjoy it. Don't take everyone and everything so seriously.

Just a simple suggestion to not repeat the fails of other administrative suites I frequent. If you stay something, and plan on adding it, finish it before the next one. I know one site who has 17 half-finished projects going and it's confusing as to what the hell is going on. Just food for thought. I'd love to see this place become successful, and have an actual VIABLE admin site to visit for information.

The more it's fought, the more it seems to happen (not allowing competitor links). People need to be realistic. The internet is a big place. If your an ass long enough, people will eventually migrate elsewhere. I say you ban links when Facebook bans Twitter links, and when Twitter bans Instagram links...

Anyone using it? Tried it? I love the concept behind it myself. I truly think and feel forums are dying, only hardcore users attempt to start anything with them. From what I've gathered, Flarum seems to lean more towards social media (which is definitely needed for forums). Your thoughts?
