  1. I didn't think of that. I always assign static routes so wouldn't run into that problem. Glad you were able to get it working.
  2. Have you setup one of the network cards to work in the VM? You can use the hyper-v management console to do this.
  3. This question might be better answered at Xtreme .NET Talk - Powered by vBulletin
  4. What happened when the files became inaccessible? When you recoveed the files it is possible the databse became fragmented. If this is the case chancesd are it is corrupt beyond compare.
  5. You'll need to know the Hyper V environment to be certified. General knowledge is all you'll really need and yes it is required.
  6. You need to open ports in your router to allow you to connect from outside your home network. You can use the security configuration wizard to set ip based rules so only you can access from remote locations.
  7. You definitely have a problem with reboot times that long. It could be a driver issue, network configuration issue or any number of other problems. Can you post your server specs?
  8. Check to make sure there is anetwork card properly installed and if there is that the cable used to connect to the router is in working order.
  9. Have you tried updating the video driver? It sounds like you are using an older version of the driver which is causing the resolution to revert back to the default settings.
  10. Have you tried the latest Brodacom driver for Windows 2008 from this page? Broadcom.com - NetXtreme II 1 Gigabit Drivers
  11. My name is Bob Schwarz. I have been using Windows Server operating systems for 10 years now. I am also a beta tester for server and desktop operating systems and because of that I am an early adopter when a new operating system is released. I started Server Forum to give users of Windows 2008 Server a place to share knowledge and ideas. I own Schwarz Network. It is the home of my network of sites. My sites are mostly tech sites, but, I do have a couple off topic chat forums. Thanks to all who are members here for sharing your knowledge.
  12. I've got that same card in one of my servers and I didn't have to install any drivers. I let windows update install the drivers for me. I get all screen resolutions that my monitor supports.
  13. It won't resolve if you pause a domain. I pause a zone when I want to make changes to it. These changes only take a few minutes so rather than stopping the server I pause the zone.
  14. There is a way. I have never researched how to do it since I never shutdown my servers. A server is supposed to run 24/7. Why would you want to shut it down?
  15. Open a command prompt and type: Hit enter. Now uncheck users are required to log on. Enter the admin password. That's it.
  16. The only time I have seen the advanced options not available was when the partitions on the drives were where created with Linux or and Unix variant. Maybe try formating the drive with Seatools and try the install again.
  17. Can you format the new drive in computer manager? The only time I've ever seen that error is when the drive was formatted on another box and then added to the server. I could format it however.
  18. It will support 4 processors not cores.
  19. Yes t does. Use server mamanger to add the email rolls to the server.
  20. Start the XP install from cd and then use the tools in the install to remove and format the partition.
  21. I've had this happen to me. The only thing you could do is to setup a UPS on the server and/or the gateway. That is how I cured the problem.
  22. You shouldn't have any problems installing on that board.
  23. It could be a bug. I'll see if I can reproduce it.
  24. I wouldn't think it would be possible. maybe someone else knows for sure.
  25. I don't think hyperthreading is supported in a virtual machine so it will only see the 2 logical cpu's.
