  1. For what your uncle needs standard edition would be best. You install it just like you would any other OS. After it's installed you add features and set it up the way you want.
  2. I had a problem with auto run whilhe installing 2008 Enterprise also. My problem turned out to be a firmware problem on dvd drive. Maybe a firmware upgrade will fix it. For the video drivers I ran Windows update and it installed the best drivers. I also have nvidia card in it.
  3. If the user has no permissions on the sever then the user would be quest. You can't run tasks withh a guest account. Unless I'm missing something it does sound like you want guests to run tasks since that is what a user with no permissions is.
  4. Both should pass through ICMP packets. If they don't you'll get the ping results you are showing.
  5. Looks to me like your gateway is configured to filter ICMP requests. Most do that by default to make them invisible to the world. Check your router configuration.

  10. Yes. I haven'te found anything that nstalled on Vista that wouldn't run on Widowst 2008 Server.

  13. You'll could extract the iso to another hard drive and install from there. Do you have another hard drive to put in the box? If the computer can boot from USB you could exract the iso to a USB stick and boot the install from it.
  14. Disable onboard sound and the problem will go away. You could also try updating drivers to Vista drivers.

  18. Do you have Wireless LAN Service installed? Until you install that service you'll get no wireless connections. Use server manager and add new feature wizard to install the service.
  19. The only thing I can think of is UAC causing the problem. Although you have it disabled I'm thinking maybe it really isn't. There was a bug in betas that kept UAC on even when turned off. Have you tried running the management consle with elevated privs?

  23. I haven't use Nero so I'm not sure why it won't burn the ISO. You shouldn't have to make the dvd bootable. It will be bootable once it is burned.
  24. Try the XP or 2003 drivers and see if they work.
