  1. Nope, I turned indexing off as soon as I finished the installation a week ago. I never did like the way it could hide files in Vista when I searched for files I knew were there but not indexed. Just for jollies I'm going to remove the gigabit switch and put in a 10/100 to see how that effects performance. I don't think it's the problem but I can definitively say so after that test. Dan
  2. Hi all, Fresh install of Windows 2008 Standard. AMD 5200 CPU SATA HD 2Gig Ram Gigabit Nic into a Gigabit switch Running DNS, DHCP & AD I am copying directories of 17-20Gig of files into new empty directories on the server from a Windows XP Pro notebook with a gigabit NIC. Tried these methods: UNC path & mapped drive with the same results The files are transfering at less than 1MB/s! I also get the "File Already Exists" dialog box for many of the files. This is impossible seeing as I'm copying into an empty directory. I remoted into the server from this notebook and copied the files using Windows 2008 Explorer and they transfered at an average of 6.5MB/s. That's better, but... It also makes me think it's not hardware related seeing as I can get better transfer rates using a different protocol. Any suggestions
