  1. Resolve this sid S-1-5-21-3206598590-745459590-3389446312-1463 to a username and forbid to this user the access to the server for one day (create another user) it looks like this user is causing problem. Anyway I don't understand why some services are not responding in time...
  2. Simply answer: Install Windows Server, activate Remote Desktop Service. Now from each client connect to the server via remote desktop, so everything can be centralized to the server. Because your environment is not complex, you can save lot of time with this configuration.
  3. - McAfee - Nod32 (sometime it has problems...) - BitDefender
  4. Take a look here: http://www.buchatech.com/2010/06/how-to-setup-vpn-access-on-server-2008/
  5. Key benefits: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/system-center/configuration-manager-features.aspx In others words... it's another way to centralize everything. Basically it's so.
  6. Are you using a virtual environment?
  7. That's the point. With NSLOOKUP you can understand HOW one name is resolved into IP. Do the steps above and check that each name is resolved correctly.
  8. Try to delete the wireless network profile and shares, then re-add and retry.
  9. Well you can use the same port for different IPs. I mean, you can have 2 web server on the same server with 2 different IPs: 192.168.1.10:80 10.0.0.10:80 It works...
  10. You cannot do this, is the application itself that force the port and you can't bind the same port two times.
  11. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproui/thread/7d053ab7-020d-4584-b5d4-1944ac172d4c Good luck...
  12. So you want that once a user RDP into your server, it will be redirected to a Windows 7 VM?! If yes, I can't understand how you can do it.
  13. Pratically not, but contact Microsoft License Support and explain what happened. They will ask you for both keys and finally they should give you another key.
  14. The combination of server1, server2, server3 with IPs are correct?
  15. Migrating from 2k8 to 2k8 R2 is not so hard. The best thing to do is to install a temporary server (virtual), pass all the roles to this server, install the new server on the old one and finally migrate the roles. This is the safest way for me. It takes a bit more time but it's secure and you don't loose too much productivity time.
  16. Office pc: AMD X3, 4 gb ram, integrated VGA, 320 HD. Server: depdending on your needs but a "normal" xenon 4 cores should be fine with 12 gb ram.
  17. Double click on ERROR PAGES, you can redirect each error... but I don't really understand what's your question...
  18. As said you need an MSI package... the problem is that you don't have the msi package for each program... that means you must create it yourself... but trust me, if you create an MSI package for each program... you will not gain time, that's sure. Programs like Office are ready with MSI package, but others not. http://www.advancedinstaller.com/user-guide/tutorial-gpo.html
  19. Usually you need an "experience" like this before really understanding the meaning of backup, disaster recovery, business continuity.
  20. No, because everything is managed by many files which interrogate SIDs and put them in DACL and SACL, so that's can be made only from the OS itself. You can only take the ownership from another computer but only if the HD is not encrypted. Next time... backup, registry export and restore point... the last 2 items require 5 minutes ;)
  21. From a client, type the followings commands: ipconfig /flushdns nslookup set querytype=all SERVERNAME exit ipconfig /displaydns post results
  22. You could try this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754015(WS.10).aspx But you need a restore point.
  23. Try to COMPLETELY disable the norton application for a week and tell me if the problem persists.
  24. Yes, you can. You just need a DNS but of course you have it. Are you talking about an INTERNAL connection? If so, set up your DNS internally, otherwise you need to change something on your EXTERNAL dns.
  25. Hi, enjoy your stay!
