  2. I'm quite sure your packet filter is modifying something. I had an issue where my PF allowed an update from microsoft if it was in english / italian / french but not if in german. So, tell me if you are running SQL 2005 EXPRESS or not. I can download it, compress, add a password and upload somewhere. So you can download it without the filter (most of PF system allows password protected archives if not configured in others ways). Let me know.
  3. Because Windows Server is not Vista / 7... Anyway, the CALIBRATION program in XP / VISTA / 7 is auto installed when windows can find the correct program for that device. That means you must install it manually in Windows Server.
  4. You're welcome!
  5. The message is still the same... Can you try the same thing from the command line? I'm sure your problem is with passive mode... so, try with command line and post back results.
  6. Hi, Be sure to understand that create shares on a DC is not a good thing for 2 main reasons: 1) network usage (PDC has many connection) 2) security Anyway, to create a share you can do it easily via File Server role or directly by right clicking a directory. Limit the network connection CANNOT be made via Windows Server itself, take a look at these 2 progs: http://www.softinengines.com/ http://www.netlimiter.com/ Just to be sure... don't confuse NLB with bandwidth limiter, here you can read what NLB can do for you: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771300(WS.10).aspx Regarding your last question... Everything depends on your policies... when I join a domain my desktop will be the same until a policy changes it... so you don't have to change anything.
  7. No feature or role, just download the profiler for your game controller (if you tell me the model I can look for it). Usually you can go on the manufacture's website and download it.
  8. Hi, First (just for general knowledge) read this: http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/secure_ftp_server.html Second: No, you can't from windows but you can via your Firewall (at least if your firewall can do this).
  9. No you can't. It's like (more or less) RDP, when you login with one user, you cannot login with the same user at the same time on another location.
  10. Are you sure you have installed the calibration program? During the installation, have you selected "install for all users"?
  11. Take a look: http://blogs.technet.com/b/grouppolicy/archive/2009/06/24/gp-preferences-set-a-default-printer.aspx
  12. Yes you can, but you must deploy printers with Group Policy. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754699.aspx
  13. The point is that RAS assign an IP number before the connection is initiated. That means you should add exclusions in your DHCP server or better, assign a range. Now, when you set up DHCP server, it uses an interface that now is anymore there. You could try to remove the role and re-add with the new interface... maybe this could help.
  14. Mhhh I'm not really sure it will work... I can't see why it should install the update tomorrow instead of when you rebooted your server :/ Anyway let's cross our fingers... Regarding the time that cannot be changed, this can happens, and there's a (good?) reason... but actually I can't remember why eheh. Waiting for your update!
  15. Hi, Active directory: http://www.petri.co.il/installing-active-directory-windows-server-2008.htm Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEs-k8-t6FI File server: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQhcD8VCeJM It's REALLY easy, trust me :)
  16. I suggest you to use DSMOD: dsmod /? I think you can't change it via wmic
  17. I think you cannot establish a VPN connection via a bridged network... I mean, I know you can create two VPN connections and THEN bridge, but from 2 bridged interfaces I think you can't VPN. I have to think a bit of this, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.
  18. Welcome! Enjoy your stay!
  19. Once you have bridged the connection, you must right click on your bridge and assign an IP. The bridge hide all the NICs involved in this process.
  20. Hi, You could try this first: Add a scheduled task which is triggered at COMPUTER STARTUP and ON DISCONNECT FROM USER SESSION. If this doesn't resolve your problem, well, you can't do everything more... you need a BACKGROUND process or a SERVICE, but both must be written (so, who has made this program must do something). There are also 2 others ways: The first one is taken from msdn: Ref: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverMigration/thread/98a97aee-c62b-4683-94ab-3777899cf7de/ The second one (non-free): http://www.firedaemon.com/ I never tried the first solution, but if you try it, please report if successful. Cheers
  21. Wait... this is correct... if you manage a RAID from "bios" (better, from your controller), you cannot let windows manage it after... so, if you create a raid from your controller, Windows must see ONE disk (in case of a raid 1). This is correct. Perhaps there's a GUI for your controller that can be installed on windows.
  22. What's the exact error message? Try to follow this guide: http://www.techotopia.com/index.php/Creating_and_Managing_Windows_Server_2008_Mirrored_(RAID_1)_Volumes
  23. To delete the cache erase this folder: %Windir%\SoftwareDistribution\Download Is there a packet filtering system on your network? It may modify the package...
  24. Try to COMPLETELY uninstall all your audio's drivers and then download the latest (and correct) drivers for your device.
