  1. What doesn't work? People can't READ the content of SHARE folder? Can they access the C:\share\UserName folder?
  2. Yes it is. With that script you set parameters for specific folder. You can use also parameters, just google a bit.
  3. This should be what you need: $AccLst = new-object System.Security.AccessControl.DirectorySecurity $AccLst = Get-Acl "C:\MyFolder" $AudRul = New-Object Security.AccessControl.FileSystemAudRul("everyone","Modify","ContainerInherit, ObjectInherit", "None", "success") $AccLst.AddAudRul($AudRul) $AccLst | Set-Acl "C:\MyFolder"
  4. Hi and welcome :)
  5. It looks like the device can't understand HOW to authenticate... radius should be a standard but try to google looking for compatibility issues...
  6. Yep: Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Network access: Do not allow storage of credentials or .NET Passports for network authentication
  7. Are there any restriction for mac-address / ip or other? Is there a log for your cisco?
  8. Open the start menu, click on the picture and then select CHANGE YOUR PICTURE
  9. From what I know you can't. You can specify a default picture for each user but this is manually...
  10. It should work... but what's the error message?
  11. Mhhh you can lock your computer... START > Lock... Am I wrong?
  12. What does it mean "prevent users to modify desktop"? Icons? Wallpaper? Visual Effect? Create folder?
  13. Look for this problem on this website and I'm sure you'll find at least 2 thread answered by me with the same question ;)
  14. who's your ntp server? Is that ip correct? In order to sync two dc they must point on the same ntp server.
  15. This is because your client can't contact your server. This is the only problem. Be sure both computers are on the same network. Post the ipconfig /all command of both server and workstation.
  16. you can't live without a firewall... Your network will be down in 1-2 days or less... You can estimate a 150-200 Mb for each user, assuming that "working with files" means office or something like this and not something with graphic. If so you can easily install remote desktop service but honestly you must buy 2 servers. One will be the terminal server and the other will be license server (it must be dedicated) and domain controller. This second server can actually be a "workstation" with a raid 1 disk. Redundant nics must be used and regarding the space you can set up via policy a redirection or simply store in your server (with terminal server each user has its own folder). The best and securest scenario is with 4 servers: one DC and license, two identical server clustering terminal server and one gateway server to split connections.
  17. Actually you need to think about security first, so you may want to install a firewall and a router and not let your server do everything. Now, first of all try to recover infos regarding your server (HW), and then tell us how many clients you will have, finally what they should do?
  18. Hi, It's hard to say because you haven't specified your network topology. Anyway, I can tell you that you can use REMOTE DESKTOP but pay attention to two things: 1) server perfomances (it needs RAM) 2) bandwidth (both, server and clients) The best choice should be XenDestop, but it costs...
  19. Not to a shared drive but yes on a mapped drive. From what I can remember you can't write the UNC path, but you can easily map the network drive (N:\) and then it works. If not, you can save it on local drive and once the backup comes to an end, run a batch that copy that file.
  20. So your VMS must be on the same network according to VirtualBox config.
  21. Because maybe your dns is not 192.168.1.1!!! When you assign 127.0.0.1 it's a localhost address but that machine must be a DNS! I suggest you to ask your teacher to explain a bit better how a network work with addresses and so on...
  22. preferred DNS is the actual dns (router maybe) the alternate must be assigned only if exists, if not leave blank.
  23. In which way must this program accessed? I mean, via a client program which contacts the server via network? If so, are the clients / server on the same network (WLAN, LAN)? If yes, you can simply install the program on windows server, no matter if active directory exists. The your client (if a client program exist, or a webpage is used, I don't know), can access the program. You just need to open the right port on your firewall to permit comunications.
  24. You must be sure that both VM have the same NIC (they must be on the same network). Then assign something like this: SERVER: IP: 192.168.1.50 SUB: 255.255.255.0 DNS: (who is your dns???) if it's your router, assign the router's ip. Client: IP: 192.168.1.51 SUB: 255.255.255.0 DNS: (who is your dns???) if it's your router, assign the router's ip.
  25. That's because I said POST RESULT HERE.
