  1. Download and install wireshark. Then sniff and open your program. Then post results.
  2. That's because you should install a sniffer to detect where the packet is blocked...
  3. Install wireshark and filter that port and post results.
  4. So only on this server it doesn't work?
  5. actually for me it's not clear what works and not. Applications like outlook work? Your application has worked at least one time? Maybe on another environment...
  6. I don't understand very well... Anyway open the application and run a netstat -Anb and check if at least the socket is opened.
  7. Which software? Which protocol?
  8. Take a look here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb530324.aspx#grouppolicydeviceinstall_topic3b And here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb530324.aspx#grouppolicydeviceinstall_topic3c Whole article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb530324.aspx
  9. Hi, you can easily migrate AD with that tool. Migrating exchange it's almost the same thing, you can unmount the database file, and remount on new server .
  10. what about a firewall? Windows or a physical firewall...
  11. yes I'm sure, google for "acronis universal restore".
  12. You must connect both switch on internet (to your router), then if both are connected with a router (to go to internet) they can talk. After that the shortest path should be taken by your switch if it's enough cleaver.
  13. when you deploy a clone, it must be done on the same hardware. If not use acronis with universal restore.
  14. Filter per date and then export ;)
  15. Both :) I know there's a unique address
  16. I'm not bob :P Alright, the problem is your server and not clients switches router pc other. Now the point is... What works and what does not work? If your server answer to a ping request, then is not something related with your network. It looks like a service (don't know which) goes down and up but this should affect all the computers, not only 2 or 3. Most probably the problem could be the DNS which is confusing something. To export event viewer: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749339.aspx Then send me per email. I write you a pm.
  17. no idea because usually when you have exchange you don't need a second mail server. I don't understand your scenario, anyway if you have exchange and another mail server is because you want use outlook for calendar or mobile devices but not for email. (no idea why you do this). Exchange can send emails without another server, so once again, no idea why you should have a dedicated mail server when you already have exchange.
  18. I know, but the link talks about something different. If you open internet explorer you can easily type C:\ and access your local drive with explorer.
  19. I don't understand... You want that sw1 talks with sw2 but users on sw1 to go on internet must stay on sw1 and users on sw2 must stay on that switch to reach internet. Right?
  20. Hi and welcome, you aren't an it guy but your explanation is perfect, detailed! Well done. Ok first of all we need to understand if all computers connected to domain are really equally configured, these PC have a static ip or is assigned by DHCP? If so, assign a static ip. when you lose connection, can you ping the server? And the others PC? Actually your connection is not lost because you can easily reconnect with a logout and login. If you haven't a connection you can't connect to your domain. Are there any errors on the clients side in event viewer?
  21. Why are you cloning your server? Backup purpose? If yes you don't need to use sysprep. Anyway this is a normal behavior of sysprep.
  22. Mail server is a mail server, it can send, receive emails. Exchange is a Microsoft 's protocol to exchange email but also to share calendar and so on. Exchange is proprietary of Microsoft.
  23. From what I know you can't because the process explorer is responsible also for the grafic interface so you can't just stop it.
  24. You can't do this, Microsoft's DNS needs ldap and other zones and also child delegation in order to work. So you can't add your server to untangle. Actually you could but don't do it.
  25. To be sure connect the monitor in another way if possible if not it's an hw problem
