  1. That will work! :) Thanks!
  2. I am deploying Windows Server 2008 R2 in a hotel for their business center to simplify management of all the computers. The one thing that is bothering the heck out of me is that the guests will be so confused when they see the computer asking for a password for login. I already have the computers auto-logging in upon boot to a customized Guest account profile and upon logout, it clears all of their personal data. That is great - except it brings back the logon screen which asks for a password. Is there any way to have the computer auto log back in after a logout to the guest account? OR better yet a shortcut on the desktop that says like "Clear Personal Data" or "Reset" or something and it does the same thing as logging out - erases the profile and pulls the new one from the server like it would upon boot? Sorry if this isn't clear. Thanks! Ross
  3. Great! Thanks! I have found these links which have helped me immensely: http://markswinkels.nl/2009/12/17/how-to-create-a-mandatory-profile-in-windows-server-2008-r2/ Thanks again! :)
  4. Hi All! Is it possible with Server 08 R2 to have a user account that is temporary - as in only valid for one login then cleared of everything? Specifically, the account gets wiped of everything on logoff (i.e. all files deleted, internet history cleared, etc - essentially a new profile upon logon)? Is it also possible to retain default browser/other application settings persistently? It would be annoying for users to, for example, have to type in a name when they open Office for the first time, or have IE, Firefox, and Chrome ask them if they want to set them to default, IE8's "Welcome" setup wizard, etc. Thanks! Ross
  5. Anyone know how to do what I want?
  6. Not exactly. We have a PBX server that can be accessed from the internet as well as LAN. But some people that have laptops/softphones and they don't want to have to change the server's IP when the leave/reenter the building. I want to change the IP Address for the FQDN pbx.mydomain.com for anyone INTERNALLY who uses my DNS Server when in the building. Otherwise, everything works fine outside. I don't need NAT. I just want to change the IP address of a domain name for anyone who attempts to browse to it while in my LAN.
  7. Hello Everyone! I have a Windows Server 2008 set up as a DNS Server among other things, and I need to alter a DNS setting for a domain name so that all LAN computers get a different IP address than what it listed with other DNS providers like say Google or OpenDNS. I think I did this right: Open Server Manager Expand DNS Server Expand DNS Expand (SERVERNAME) Expand (networkname) Action > New Host (A or AAAA) Name: sub.domain.com IP Address: IP.Address.For.ServerLocally Add Host That creates a com, domain subdirectory structure with a record for "sub" with the server's internal IP. However, the workstations still return with the external IP for the server when that link is called for DNS lookup. How can I make that record work and change the IP of an external domain for internal use? Thank you! :) Ross Lindsay
