  1. Hmm... Thanks, but I haven't got another machine that is currently available for the use of untangle. I've been using Blue Coat K9 Web Protection for now which does the job, but I was looking for something that would integrate with server 2008 and had remote administration on a per-user basis. K9 however just filters the whole computer regardless of the user. Thanks anyway.
  2. Is it possible to change settings via the server or another computer on the network? EDIT: Just checked on the live essentials site, where it says:
  3. Hi everyone, I have a home server running server 2008 in my home, and the kids and family all have there accounts on the active directory. The problem is, I would like a webfilter that is free and integrates with Server 2008 but can't find one. Anyone got any ideas or solutions? I would like to keep it all on the one server. Thanks, Tom
  4. Hi there! I wish to password protect a shared folder so that everytime a user goes to access it, it asks for the credentials of a admin/privileged user. I've setup a restricted access group and added the users to it. But can't think of a way to get it to ask for a password each and every time. I can prevent access using permissions but there is no way to temporarily lift this using a password. Any Ideas? -Tom
  5. Thanks for your reply, I've been away so was unable to chack back until now. I did solve the problem thanks to yourself, it was in fact a permissions problem. The user was unable to create the directories for the desktop etc. Thanks Again, -Tom
  6. Hi everyone. sorry if this is in the wrong section, this is only my second thread. So, I've installed Server 2008 R2 Enterprise edition for educational purposes in my home. I've connected three desktop PC's and have four users in AD. I've created a FolderRedirection group policy to redirect all the users files "My documents, music, pictures etc.) the GP applies perfectly to existing users and all is well. However when a create a new user and add it to the FolderRedirction group, the policy does not take effect. I've tried using "gpupdate /force" and also deleting the local user directories from the C:\ drive however it just logs the user on with a temp profile.... Any Ideas? Thanks -Tom
  7. When i type in: shutdown -m \\IPADDRESS I just get the syntax, the same as if i was to type in: shutdown /? Thanks for all your help so far :)
  8. No errors/messages are shown. Also the OS of the computer i am trying to shutdown is windows 7. Also the command you specified doesn't work because "Shutdown -i" actually opens a graphical interface outside of CMD
  9. If this is in the wrong section i'm sorry, this is my first visit. Hi all, I have recently been trying out the "shutdown -i" command via cmd. The problem is that one of the computers connected to the domain will not shutdown. I am attempting to do this from the DC and am using the built-in administrator account so i am in the domain admin group. it's weird as I can get the shutdown -i to work on all computers but one. Cheers for all your help..
