  1. I am in the final stages to import Forum² into here. I will get the data imported starting tomorrow and should be done by tomorrow night. Site might be a little glitchy during the time. I have removed the link directory in preparation for the Invision 5 upgrade. Once I get the site upgraded I will install a directory. Also the downloads are being removed. I am building a new downloads system with pages and will use that. Thanks for bearing with me. Things should be better than ever when everything is done.
  2. I have changed the style of the site to match the style on XenForo Zone. This will make it easy for me to roll out changes without having to worry about doing major changes to the styles. This style as is the one on XenForo Zone are the default style as a child of PixelExit very fine XenBase framework. I am using 2 branding free version of the style that I purchased a while ago and never used to get access to the framework. The rest was easy. For the people that prefer the old style it is still available. You can switch to it by using the style chooser at the bottom left.
  3. I admit I have been lax adding new topics to spur discussions since I opened the community. The reason is that the current structure of forums are old and antiquated. The current structure, category hierarchy with linear list of threads, has outlived it's usefulness. People want to see what's new and interesting without having to click several links to get to the content. Saying that I am looking at options to move this community into the 21ST century. As it is now this community, as well as thousands like it, are stuck in the early 2000's. This is the single most reason why forums are failing. I am looking at alternatives. I have narrowed the choice down to either Vanilla, Flarum or Discourse. At this point in time I am leaning towards Discourse or Vanilla since I have experience with those. I had test sites up for staff of my tech site to play with before a planned migration. Discourse scales well as traffic to the site grows. Styling it is fairly simple since it can all be done by editing a few css files. As it is Discourse is the front runner. I have experience with Vanilla since I was an admin on a site that migrated from vbulletin to Vanilla. At first activity slowed, but once the users got used to the way it works activity increased. New user signups also increased and posting by those new users also increased. Flarum I have no experience with, but, I do like the aesthetics of it. I might install a test version to see if it will be a viable option. Look for changes to come. If this forum is to be a major player it has to step into the future.

    Disclaimer

It seems this site has come under the eye of the owner of a similar site. It seems this owner has decided that any members of his forum that join here will be banned on his site. I myself find this to be childlike behavior. Although since I was an admin at said owners site I understand the paranoia he is exhibiting by banning his members that join here. If you are a member of said admin forum we welcome you here. You will not be stalked as a member here and are free to join any forum you please and post anything you want. We will not ban you for saying something on another site. We will not ban you if you post a link to a competing site. In fact we encourage you to post links to competing sites. The more exposure Forum² gets the better for all of us. If you sign up for an account here I would advise you to not use the same username you use on the other site. I would not want your registration here to jeopardize your status on that other admin forum if you wish to continue to participate on both sites. On the other hand if you are a member here and wish to join the other forum you can rest assured you will not be stalked, hunted, ridiculed or banned. Forum² is a professional forum run by a professional that understands that having a good reputation with competing sites is a sure fire way of building trust and membership.
  5. I have noticed lately that xenForo staff can be influenced by some users on their forum to edit and moderate posts that don't agree with what the thread op has posted. There was a review posted about a forum in the same niche as Forum² that pointed out some of the shortcomings of the site. A few people that were long time members of this site pointed out some of the shortcomings. Staff at xenforo jumped in right away to remove the comments. It seems it's perfectly fine to point out shortcomings of some sites. Just don't do it to any site that is owned by one of the favorites. You see some of the comments pointed out how the site owner will ban members, some of them long standing members who contributed a good amount to the site, if they post on sites that the owner doesn't approve of. The owner regularly visits sites that he deems bad and if he notices one of his members posting on them he will ban them. He will also ban you if he doesn't like what you posted on other sites. It seems this guy has nothing better to do then stalk his users and watch everything they do or say. In any case if you post on the official xenforo forum step lightly if you decide to post an opinion that isn't inline with the way staff thinks.
  6. Forum² has a twitter account. Make sure to follow Forum² at Admns Zone (@AdmsZone) | Twitter on Twitter.
  7. I'd like to welcome everyone to Forum² a community for administrators, owners and forum enthusiasts to gather together and share knowledge. Forum² was originally Admin Reports and then later Forum SEO Help. While the community was off to a good start I didn't have time for it and it stagnated. I decided that this time I am in it for the long haul so therefore Forum² is born. Once again welcome to Forum² a community for forum administrators.
  8. Forum² is looking for staff members. Since the site has re-opened and it is a little slow the main job will be to add new topics to get the forum going. Once the community gets kicked started then the job will be to participate in threads and make sure topics stay free of trolls and insults. If interested drop me a PM.
