Backlinks - how to get a proper list of external links

I couldn't figure out how to get a full list of external links from webmaster tools. Does anybody know how to obtain this stat? Or is it not possible?

I don't believe it is any more accurate than a site: search, but you can do a links: search on Google.

 

links:yourdomain is the correct syntax.

Thanks. The default google links listing is more useful than that of webmaster tools. I was hoping webmaster tools would be more informational.
