Forum² Staff Shawn Posted March 2, 2010 Forum² Staff Posted March 2, 2010 Do I need a certain pagerank before most would considering buying adspace on my website? Quote My forums: Another Admin Forum | vBAdmins Forum | Off Topic Forum | The Hiking Forum
Mike Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Some people will say you do. I'm not one of them. My busiest site is getting excellent traffic numbers, there is currently a waiting list for my premium ad spots and it is my best AdSense producer. Page rank? 2. I've watched that site range from 0 to 4 and back again, with absolutely no changes in traffic or revenue. I see some people fretting over page rank, but I rarely even look at it. Forum² Admin AWS Posted March 2, 2010 Forum² Admin Posted March 2, 2010 Pagerank means very little as far as how it affects traffic. At least I've never see any benefit from having high pagerank. I have a PR 7 site and it gets no more traffic than my sites with PR 2. About the only benefit I've seen to it is I can sell my ads at a higher price and can sell links on the site at a higher price. Everyone wants a link on a PR 6 or higher site. As far as selling ads. Sell them even if you have no rank. As the site does increase rank then raise the prices. That's how I do it when I monetize sites. I have a rule of thumb that I follow. I place no ads on new sites until I get a steady stream of traffic. Then I place one ad under the nav for guests. One adlink in the footer and one in the sidebar for all. When I sell links or banner space I remove Adsense. I never show more than 3 ads per page and none of them except for the guest ad is above the fold. This works well for me and is unobtrusive to the users.
