Jim Powers Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Hi everyone, I'm trying to do a clean install of a Windows 2008 Server Standard but I'm having a problem that I have not found on the net yet, so I'll try to explain here. I cannot drop any screenshots since I'm installing the new server on 3 HD's Raid5 in the same case as the one running a Win2003 server now. So I won't be able to try some manoeuvers too. Problem: The installation worked (RAID5), installed NIC driver and being able to connect to internet without problems. I installed the AD function and was trying to install the DNS server with dcpromo.exe. With our without 'the Advanced settings option', I can: - create new domain in new forest - type the FQDN (.be, .com, .***** .crap, even a single title) - choose the forest functional level (win 2008) - he verifies name use and netbios, all are fine ... After this he starts examining the DNS settings... for ages... I tried options like different FQDN, different FFL... nothing helps. I also tried uninstalling the AD function and reinstalling it. Then I tried to install DNS function first but then he says I have to do everything else manual (I tried but lost a lot of time checking errors). The only thing I haven't tried is the unattend file because lack of time. Who has an idea? Here are some specs: IP address: 192.168.0.250 subnet: 255.255.255.0 gateway: 192.168.0.1 dns: 192.168.0.250 alternate dns: 193.74.208.135 Thanks Quote
