MarkBarefoot Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Hi all, I have a very odd issue, in that DCOM permissions are being reset from CUSTOM back to DEFAULT, and causing event id 10016 The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID. I have worked a lot with DCOM on previous versions of Windows Server. This instance is Server 2008 X64. I have done the following, but the issue is still appearing: - checked Group Policies - none set to reset to default - added the default groups to the local security policy SDDL settings - setup Process Monitor but this didn't capture due to running out of memory I am now looking into auditing the registry to see if that can capture what is resetting these permissions. I saw in Server 2003 base there was an issue with the EVERYONE group missing, which caused DCOM to reset to DEFAULT, but even added that group in this instance, no joy. Any help on this would be appreciated..... Quote

sfun28 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 got this to work. turns out the right registry entries weren't in place for the permissions to be saved. my memory is fuzzy cause this was a while back...but I think I used this article for the solution: Word automation under asp.net 1.1.4322 & Vista 64-bit Quote
