spacker Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 hi. I've just setup Server 2008 for a friend with active directory and DNS installed. The domain is companyname.local and the server is using the ADSL modem IP settings for gateway and DNS. There are 5 workstations that are in the domain, their DNS is set too the server IP address. All I have configured is user accounts with passwords, folder redirection with GPO and a couple of shared folders. They only seem to be able to access the more common websites (amazon, bbc.co.uk, etc). Do I need to set up anything for the DNS as I have no knowingly configured this. Quote

I'm interested in this question as well. I just installed Server 2008 R2 x64 and I am trying to install a New Forest. I get to the DNS Server setting and I am confused. It errors saying I have to set my Server IP to a static IP address. I set it to a static IP but don't know what to put in the DNS information. I have a registered Domain Name DCSLLP.NET and I have a 25mbps/25mbps Fibre line that is a Dynamic IP. How do I set this up right? Quote
