matt897 Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Hi, I have the following setup: modem----->router----->Server------>local lan switch switch The server acts as a gateway between the internet and the local lan. My question is; I have another computer that i want to move from the switch.....out onto the router directly on an extra port, i also want the computer to still be able to communicate with the inner lan machines. Is this possible? thanks Quote
bilbus Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Is that server a ISA server or something? If not, then no ... if yes then you can make a rule to allow access. But really, there is no point of doing this ...i would remove the server from the routing. There is no point in separating the 2 networks, if you have pcs that can bypass the restrictions. Generally people do this to separate exterior facing servers from the secure inner network ... and will just open a few ports. Quote
