catsystems Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Hi There, We have a 2008 standard server and all is well except that we can't ping the hostname. The ip address is 192.168.0.110 on ip4. If I have ipv6 enabled all i get is 4 x replies from a mac address fe80::a47d:38c: etc. if I diasble ipv6 then all i get is 4 x a replies from ::1: The preferred dns on ipv4 is set to 192.168.0.110 and the dns server is running.... We have also noted that unfortunately the server has the server domain name of "domainname.co.uk" rather than "domainname.local" It looks like it is still a nightmare to rename the domain therefore is it possible make changes to the dns settings of this server to address this...? Many thanks Quote
Forum² Admin F2 Staff Posted February 10, 2010 Forum² Admin Posted February 10, 2010 To be able to use IPV6 your host has to support it and assign a block of IPV6 addresses to the server. If they don't you'll need a tunnel broker that will assign you a block of IPs. Then you can setup the tunnel and your server will be active on the IPV6 internet. You can use server manager to change the domain name. Quote
