nontechiee Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Hi I have installed Windows Server 2008 and active directory is configured on it. I want to configure print server where in I should be able to control all the users in domain through this and I should be able to give permissions to the users who really need the printer access - I want to do this to avoid local printer installation. Can some one help me by providing step by step process to accomplish this task. Thanks for the help. Quote
mmthomas Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 This link talks about managing printers through group policy, which is what it sound like you want to do. Your clients much be Vista or Win7 for this to work, though at the end it does talk about a workaround for that. Quote
nontechiee Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 Thank you for the information Yesterday I have configured the print server on Windows 2008 domain and shared the printers through group policy. Most of my clients are Windows XP 32bit and XP 64bit. I am able to add the printer in the client machine user login, but I would like to restrict the usage - I mean, I should be able to restrict the users to add the prnter and give the print to the shared printer through group policy. When I give the permission to the user, then only the users should be able to add the printer and take prints from shared printer. Hope my question is clear. Thank you for the help in advance Quote
