Alternate Suffixes And Child Domains

Hi all,

 

I am having a hell of a time setting this up.

 

Win2k8 x32 DC for domain.com.

 

Win2k8 x64 DC for child.domain.com

 

Enterprise alternate suffix set as alternate.

 

User created on child.domain.com domain as joe@alternate.

 

This user cannot login via RDP, local, or fileshare to anything on domain.com. everything works fine on child.domain.com.

 

User created on domain.com domain as mike@alternate.

 

This user is able to login to both domains just fine.

 

What can possibly be wrong here?
