MartinAmdur Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 New windows 2008 server R2 SP1. I migrated the data from the old win.2003 server. Finally I have it running and all the users (using Win XP pro sp3) hooked up to it but one user can only access one of his mapped network drives. The one he can access is his personal one with it's path in the AD users properties. When I replaced the mapping for the other network drives, they at first appeared as folders so I disconnected them and mapped again. They showed up as drives this time but it took a little longer than on all the other machines. When I try to open them, nothing happens. No error messages, nothing. None of the other PCs had this issue. I included the user in question's name for the shared files drive's sharing permissions even though "everyone" has permission to access this drive but he still cannot access it. Any idea what is going on here? + Quote
ICTCity Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Check client's dns settings, if they're correct, try to open the network drive using IP instead of NAME. If it doesn't work, check server's log if there's some wrong. Let me know. Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. MartinAmdur Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 Nope it wasn't any of that. It turns out it is a Windows XP issue. If you click the drive icons they don't open but if you right click and select explore, they open. This problem affects 3 out of 4 network drives on this user's PC. Weird. Not that this is such a big deal, but any solutions? Thanks, Quote
ICTCity Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Mhhhh the only solution (for me), could be a reinstall (or at least a repair). I have no other idea... sorry.
