ShaneF Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Either I am blind or something, but I can not see AppLocker as an option to configure for a group policy. Does the policy have to include a group that have user groups and not groups of computers? I have yet to upgrade the computers to Windows 7 Ult. I'll be doing that in the next week or so. Any ideas? ShaneF Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 Hi there, According to this link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee424382%28WS.10%29.aspx Do you have these requirements? What I been realizing (I was not the original person who put our server together and router/switch) that R2 is coming up a lot and I didn't understand it. The server was less than a year old and I just check the device manager and it is NOT R2 and now I am just mad that I been futzing around with the server for over a month with very little success in DHCP muli-scoping and now AppLocker with GPO to find out that we don't even have the right version. I was even TOLD by the last IT guy that it was the latest version. (The router he got and switch were the old versions as well and I had to get upgrades.. long story short... it's been a nightmare.) I going to make an emergency purchase of Windows 2008 R2 Standard and then I should see AppLocker. I feel dumb. Thanks for the help. Quote

In the past people were angry if I post this kind of questions, but actually it's one of the most common issue. Trust me, I know "many" IT admins which buy WS 2k8 std or ent, but actually they don't know the difference! Be sure to check the differences, because it's not like Win 7 which has just the bit locker or something more. In your case the problem is quite different, what can I say... I'm not surprised. it's like when a raid-controller says: "hey, my battery must be replaced ASAP", but you just ignore it, or when a DISK has a led's red but you are "safe" because it is in a RAID 5. I think you know what I'm talking about. Let me know if you need help! Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais.
