I setup Windows 2008 R2 Very Generically, with a "Forest" and a couple of users, and computers in the active directory. The workstation's usernames and computernemae are identical to the ones setup in "Active Directory". I have had a Windows 2000 Pro Server running for years, but when I try to get the users to connect to the Domain in Win 2008 R2, I get a message:

"Your computer could not be joined to the Domain because the following error has occured."

The Network path was not found.

XP has faired no better......I am stumped. Anyone can get me pointed in the RIGHT direction?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Be sure your client(s) have the correct settings for DNS (ip address).

Open this file with notepad:

C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts

and add this line:

IP_DC Your_Domain_Name

let me know.
