Hi,

I have recently bought a used Dell Power Edge 1950, with dual Quad core xeons and 32G of RAM, which came with standard on-board VGA card. Searched on dell site and found that nVidia Quadro NVS 290 can be used with server.

So, bought one, inserted into one of the unused pci-e x8 slot and installed drivers. Device manager shows no problems, but there is no display from the graphics card.

Dell does not allow to disable the onboard VGA card, I was wondering that windows should let me choose graphics card or at least if I could get display on to both the monitors. I have attached a screen shot of device manager and display properties.

Please, help me out.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The only thing I can tell you is to disable the card from device manager, but actually I don't know what can happen. I *think* after a restart, the secondary VGA should show up the image... but I'm not sure...

I think if your VGA is on the first PCI slot, and you restart the system with monitor plugged in into the new card, it should work...
