MSofia Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 hi everyone, im completely new using windows server 2008. this may be silly, but i really need help. we've been working on a web application, i need to make some connection tests with my server, but i dont know if my public ip is enabled, so that i can connect to my server. ive tried connecting via remote desktop but it keeps telling me that remote desktop is not enabled. my firewall is down, and i use FortiNet as my firewall. What should i do? thanks. Quote
ICTCity Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 You should contact your ISP and ask if you have a STATIC IP. If so, you must configure it on your router and enable PORT FORWARDING for desired services. Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. ICTCity Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Check your manual for Port Forwarding. You must forward request to port 80 to your server. If you want give me the model of your router. ICTCity Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Yep, linksys... which model? Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. Du kannst auch auf Deutsch schreiben. Puoi scrivere anche in italiano. --------------------------------------------------------
ICTCity Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 your router doesn't support port forwarding... You can configure it via FortiNet, take a look here: http://www.hiddenone.net/firewalls/fortigate-static-nat-configuration/ Now, depending on what you want, you must enable differents services. In other words, RDP must use the port 3389, http 80 and so on. Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. Du kannst auch auf Deutsch schreiben.
