whitehawk Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Hi there guys, Wondering if any of you could help me. Im new to servers and testing out windows server 2008 backup and restore. I have managed to make a backup after adding roles/features/users, formatting the drive and recover it in another computer with a different motherboard successfully. However, when i try another servers' backup from a client, to restore it in the same manner it gives me the following error : "Windows Complete PC Restore operation failed Error details : The data is invalid. (0x800700D) Anyone can maybe assist me? Quote
ICTCity Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I don't understand what are you trying to do... are you trying to restore a valid image of a server to workstation or viceversa? whitehawk Posted July 31, 2011 Author Posted July 31, 2011 Hey ICTCity, i made a backup using windows server backup. And now i am trying to restore that same backup to another computer, using the dvd to start up, and recover it... makes sense now? Quote
ICTCity Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 yes, but the point is that WINDOWS BACKUP can restore only on the same hardware. If you need to restore on another HW, you can use Acronis with Universal Restore. Maybe sometime you can restore an image to another hw, but this is not officially supported.
