is there any way to lock down printing preferences on connected

printers on a user workstations.

When I connect a printer, it gets the default settings from the server.

That's all good.

But the user can go to his Printer folder, select printing preferences

and change those.

Ideally, I want the user only to be able to change the settings on

individual print job and not for all jobs as it is now.

we are using win svr 2008 R2 with citrix terminal server 2003

I've tried to google this info but I can't find anything.

On your print server, you can set permission for each user. There you can find "manage print job, print, and so on". Simply right click on a printer on your print server and then select properties.

If you deploy printers with Group Policy you can do this.

The only thing I can tell you is to create a user (printUser) with privilege of install printer. From control panel, under printer, hold down the CTRL key and right click on a blank space, then select add new printer. Windows will ask you username and password. User must use the "printer" user in order to install it.

Otherwise you may search a 3rd part software if exists.
