Hello

I am using Windows 2008 Server R2 X64 using microsoft remote desktop where the audio is redirected to the client via remote desktop. The server has no sound device, yet via desktop experience it has "Remote Audio" device installed. All is fine, except at times - after several hours of work - audio files will not play. When I try to manually run windows media player on a .wav file I am getting "windows media player has encountered a problem playing the file" and a windows media player window saying "media changing ....". The computer works fine. The problem needs a reboot to be resolved until the next time. All audio files are in good shape. No disk problems whatsoever.

This would happen once every 3-4 hours after reboot.

Any idea ?

Thanks

Nothing relevant in the event viewer :(

At one point, my internet connection probably had trouble, I got the remote desktop session to do an automatic reconnect (one of those 20 retries it does as default, freezing the screen while at it). It was successful after the first retry, and audio playing was successful thereafter. So it has to do with the remote desktop or Remote Audio driver, and not with Windows Server 2008 as is...

Quite strange !

Thanks ICTCity ! any idea welcome ....

Last hope... If you have enabled audio on client but not in server, you may experience problems... So...

Anyway I don't think this is your case... Maybe there's something wrong with drivers
