daschmoldt Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 I am having some issues while installing FPSE 2002 for IIS7. I have Windows 2008 Server Enterprise which I do believe has the IIS7 and not the IIS7.5. Well anyway I did a search online for FPSE for IIS7 and came found this link: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/134/installing-the-frontpage-server-extensions-on-iis-7/ I follow the instructions on this page and everything installs fine with no error messages. So after I get installed I go to use the website to extend the website I click on the virtual server and get this error message. And yes before anyone asks I did install as Administrator not someone that has Administrator rights. HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Detailed Error Information: Module: IIS Web Core Requested URL: http://domain name:80/_vti_bin/_vti_adm/fpadmdll.dll?page=webadmin.htm Notification: MapRequestHandler Physical Path: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\_vti_bin\_vti_adm\fdadmdll.dll Handler: StaticFile Logon Method: Anonymous Error Code: 0x80070002 Logon User: Anonymous So this is basically telling me that the extensions didn't install like they were supposed to. So I uninstall the program and delete the Web Server Extensions folder and all subfolders in c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ directory. I once again install the FPSE 2002 extensions have get no error messages. Instead of going to the Administration website and trying to extend the website I decide to try the command line to extend the website. So I browse to c:\program files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extenstions\50\ I enter in this command : c:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\50\bin>owsadm -o install -p 80 -m domain.com And this is what I get: Starting install, port: 80. Created: 25 Aug 2011 10:49:48 -0000 Version: 6.0.2.8161 Error: The server administration programs and the server extensions on the web server are not compatible. The administration program is too old to use with this server. I have searched for 2 days trying to find a solution to this problem and I can't find anything. And I know I have the IIS7 installed because I tried to install the program for IIS7.5 and it immediately gave me an error message. Is there anyone else that might have had this problem and knows a solution or anyone out there know a solution to this problem. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Quote
ICTCity Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Error: The server administration programs and the server extensions on the web server are not compatible. The administration program is too old to use with this server. IF and only IF the program can work with IIS 7, it looks like it's watching inside the wrong directory... not a big help but... well, I'm not aware of frontpage extension... but I assume there are newer version instead of 2002! daschmoldt Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 This is the only version that I have found on the web for server extensions. I browse microsoft's website and the url that I added to my orginal post is where they directed me. Quote
ICTCity Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Take a look here: http://forums.iis.net/t/1149324.aspx At the end he says: "The issue is resolved. I did not have Windows Auth enabled. All is well now." Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. Du kannst auch auf Deutsch schreiben. daschmoldt Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 Yes I have taken a look at the post as well. And if you read my post you will see that I have two different issues occuring at different areas. Quote
ICTCity Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 no idea... is your OS x86 or x64? Quote -------------------------------------------------------- Tu peux aussi crire en franais. daschmoldt Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 It is 32bit and yes I know this is not optimal for running 2008 Server Quote
ICTCity Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Why not? Anyway... The only thing I HAD in my mind was that the application was looking for a folder in C:\programs files\... and not in C:\programs files(x86)\... but this happens only on 64bits version... The only thing I can suggest you is to open a topic on "social technet" of Microsoft... MAYBE somebody know how to resolve this.
